Dr. Joseph R. THUL

Age 90 of Burnsville, MN Passed away on November 17, 2018 Dr. Thul lived his early years in Victoria, Chaska, and Minneapolis MN. After graduation from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine and Foot Surgery he practiced his profession in Worthington, MN. During his years in Worthinton, Dr. Thul was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Toastmasters International, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. From 1952 to 1960 he was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout troop 119. Dr. Thul was an officer of the Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association from 1960 to 1972. He served as President of the Association from July 1, 1965 thru June, 30th, 1966, and was the alternate delegate from the Minnesota Association to the annual meeting of the American Podiatric Medical Association from 1966 to 1972. After 22 successful years in practice Dr. Thul developed a surgical residency program at the Windom area Hospital where he trained 23 residents. Dr. Thul was appointed an adjunct clinical intructors by six colleges of podiatric medicine and trained 85 preceptees. Following retirement in 1989 Dr. and Mrs. Thul enjoyed traveling in their rv and visited 48 states. They enjoyed 4 trips to Europe and in 1990 spent 3 weeks in the Canary Islands-during this trip they spent 2 days in Gambia, West Africa. He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Anna; sisters Antoinette and brother-in-law Raymond Schoen, Lorraine and brothers-in-law Steven Polucha and William Jurney, Delores Mae and brother-in-law James Splettstoesser, and brothers-in-law Milton Chabot, James Kozloski and Donald Cameron. Dr. Thul is survived by wife Mary of 64 years, sisters Joyce Kozloski, Bernadine Cameron and many nieces and nephews. Services at the church of the Risen Savior, 1501 E.
