Jim, Derek, Jacob and Sam,
I worked with Karen years ago in the Anoka County Attorney's Office. I had the opportunity to meet you all briefly. I was thinking about Karen today, as I often do, when I suddenly felt the need to leave a little message. I will always remember Karen's wonderful sense of humor, determination and integrity. I am certain that her love for each of you continues to grow with every breath you take. Karen brought such joy to the world and she continues to share that joy through each of you. Karen inspires me to be a better person every day.

Yesterday, December 14th, I learned of Karen's death. I take this news with great sadness. I knew Karen when I practiced criminal defense law in Alexandria, Virginia from 1988 to 2004. I enjoyed her presence personally and working with her in the profession was a pleasure. I can see from reading the notice that her three sons have a broad and loving base of family support. You are all in my prayers.

To the Saxhaug and Walden families,
Karen and I were good friends many years ago in high school and although we connected rarely since college, she will always be in my heart. I was fortunate to have spoken with her this past summer and my thoughts have been with her and her family since. She was a warm and loving person. My deepest sympathy.

To the Saxhaug and Walden families-
I went to High School with Karen amd though we didn't keep in touch over the years I remember her as a fun loving and kind person. I was fortunate to reconnect with her when Karen moved back to Minnesota and brought her children to the clinic I worked at. Karen was a great mother and I know she loved her children dearly. May your memories help you through the difficult days ahead. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

In an e-mail sent to Anoka County attorney office staff this morning, the chief deputy attorney, speaking for himself and the county attorney, described Karen as a "truly remarkable colleague who has left us, but who shall always be with us as a symbol of courage, dignity, indomitable will, and love of family. We shall miss her, and we are thankful that we have had the good fortune to work alongside her and share her pride in public service." Well said.

Jim & boys ~
Though I've never met you, Karen meant a great deal to me. We went thru school together, Sunday School, church camp, confirmation & graduation. I fortunately in the past years was blessed to reconnect with her. What a joy of a person she always was and has been. My thoughts and prayer are with you as you go through this extremely painful experience. Take it one moment at a time. My tears are for you, for Vern and Marlys and the entire family.
Karen will be missed by so many. God's blessing and peace be with you. This is not easy and my heart goes out to all of you.
In HIS Love, Kristi Kure

Karen could do whatever she set her mind to, as proven by the short listing of her accomplishments. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, the list of how she will be remembered is long. Growing up with her family one knew Karen would go great places and do great things. She will be sadly missed by all who ever came in contact with her. My love goes out to all who knew her.
