Kenneth Allen Obituary

Allen, Kenneth Martin - Age 89 Of Cottagewood Died peacefully on August 29th in the presence of his wife and 6 children. Preceded in death by brothers, William and Clarence; and grandchildren, Kelly and Kenny. Survived by his love of 59 years, Barbara Pond Allen; children, Judy Kim (Gary Larson), Bill (Susie), Harry (LeeAnne), Katie (Bruce) Thompson, Richard (Mary Roland) and Bob (Cathy); grandchildren, Lynn (Kevin), Christy (Mike), David (Leslie), Adam, Amanda, Brian, Emily, Katie, Mary, Mya (Zev), Nina, Eric, Jessie, Lindsay, Molly and Robbie; and great grandchildren, Sam, Ema, Lauren, Annalise and Johnathan; brother-in-law, Bob Pond (Josie); and niece, Polly (Ken) Holley. Kenneth was born in St. Paul where he attended St. Paul Central High School and Macalester College. He was an Eagle Scout, Sea Scout and an avid tennis player. He worked at Advance Machine Company in Spring Park for 27 years. He and Barb were charter members of St. Luke Presbyterian church. Kenneth was Commodore of the Calhoun Yacht Club, moved to his beloved Lake Minnetonka in 1949 and was a long time remember of the Minnetonka Yacht Club and Lafayette Club. He instilled in his children and grandchildren a generous spirit, a love of family, downhill skiing, sailboat racing and hockey. Memorial service will be held at ST. LUKE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 3121 Groveland School Road, 952-473-7378, Thursday, September 2nd at 4 PM. Reception picnic to follow at Barbie and Ken's home. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Luke Presbyterian Church or Lake Minnetonka Sailing School Advanced Youth Racing Program. Huber Funeral Homes Excelsior Chapel 952-474-9595.
