He is also survived by his granddaughter, Lydia Goodman; sister, Deborah (Tim) Gartner, and sister, Tracy Curley; sisters-in-law Mary Sue (David) Curley, and Pat Ellis: and many aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, and cousins Larry is preceded in death by his twin babies; his father, Larry Earl Goodman; his mother, Valarie (Brown) Goodman; his sister Loretta Fairbanks; his niece Shayna; his grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, and cousins. Larry enlisted in the USAF in 1985, working on the F-16 Fighter Jet as a Crew Chief at Hill AFB, Utah. After being honorably discharged, he relentlessly pursued a career in firefighting (while working other jobs), making his dream come true in the summer of 1994. Larry prided himself on being able to help people more than anything, and it was his life's work. He served on the department as a fire fighter, driver, paramedic (medic class of Spring 1996), and finally, captain. Larry retired after 28 years of service on October 21, 2022 (the day his granddaughter was born). Following his retirement, he enjoyed spending every minute with his family, including Addie, his sweet pomeranian companion (he was her person), and sharing his love of cooking and the outdoors with them. Larry also volunteered at the White Bear Lake Food Shelf and enjoyed being a a joker while working there. Larry celebrated 14 years sobriety on October 6, 2023. A private family service will be held in the spring. A public burial at Fort Snelling, followed by a luncheon will be open to all in the spring. Details to follow. Many thanks to Dr. Lux at Noran Neurological Clinic, Abbott Northwestern surgeons, doctors, P.A.s, and staff (I can name so many of you, but not all, I don't want to forget anyone; you left an imprint on our hearts). Special gratitude to Chief Butch Inks, SPFD, Deputy Chief Dwayne (Mary) Gibbs, all Local 21 IAFF active and retired brothers and sisters, The St. Paul Fire Foundation (Steve and Cris Shapira), friends from SPPS, Uptown friends, and friends made throughout our lifetimes. We are so grateful for all of you. Larry was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Rest easy, our hero.

Dear Barb,
My deepest condolences .
I didn´t know Larry real well , both on SPFD , different shifts .
He happened to be working the day I had my stroke .
Because of him and others like him I am here today .
If I were to mention it to him , I think he probably would have said something like "I was just doing my job" .
Maybe so , but what a job it was and kstill is .
That is all for now , but not enough .

Barb and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss.

Larry was a great captain to work for, I learned a lot from him. We had to work on my birthday and I was getting shipped out to a different station later that evening, but Larry made an amazing beef tenderloin and made sure it was done before I got shipped out. That is how I will remember Larry as a guy who care about everyone.
