Hi Dad, Missing you and thinking about you a lot. Jessica and Justin's wedding was this last weekend and they played The Blue Skirt Waltz in memory of you, Mom, Uncle Allan, Aunt Elaine and Uncle Sidney. It was very special. They displayed your wedding picture and we all reminisced about what a wonderful life that we had. All Uncle Allan and Aunt Elaine's children were there and we told lots of stories of our growing up. You and Mom would have really liked it. Quite a tribute. I miss you and Mom very much and I know that God is watching over you both. I Love You both a lot and you are always in my heart.

Loving you forever,

Your daughter,

Vicky

Rich, Pam & family,
I recently learned of Vern's passing from my new barber Jerry- I am very sorry for your loss. I think of him every time I go by the pizza shop on Dodd where he would bring his car to show- we'd chat about what he did to his cars, when he used to race and how things have changed. Here are a few if the memories I have of your dad: the time when he called me after that time you were in the Air Force, flew in and surprised your mom and dad; he asked me to let him know the next time we planned something like that so he could make plans "ya see." The other part of what makes that one of my fondest memories was the look on your moms face when she saw you at the doorway! I also remember that he was part of the parent team that made sure us kids made it to the Saturday morning bowling league for years. And then there were many talks about cars on the back steps and the time he took me for my most unforgettable test drive ever in the Sunbird!!
Your dad was a really cool young at heart guy and whenever I've seen old Pontiacs I've always thought of your dad. Take comfort in knowing that he is with your mom now watching over you all.

TO all my cousins, I just love reading your tributes to Laverne. I miss him too. I miss his laugh, his smile, his music, his singing. I really loved the time I spent in Wisconsin, visiting Laverne and Charlotte. They are both together and happy. They have raised children who have their strong beliefs and values. You have also passed those traits to the next generation. So glad to have been a part of the family and to be able to share and remember all of good times. Laverne and Charlotte continue to live in our hearts and our memories. SHare them with each other. GOd BLess. Gary and Sue Lofthus

Dad,

A thousand times we needed you;
A thousand times we cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
you never would have died.
A heart of gold stopped beating,
two twinkling eyes closed to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best.
Never a day goes by that you're not in my heart and in my soul.

We miss you Dad, but we know you're now in a much better place, and with the love of your life who we miss equally as much.

With love from your son,

Richard

Hi Dad,

Today is Saturday February 9th. I am struggling a bit today as I am thinking about you and Mom and missing both of you a lot. How I wish that you and Mom were still here with us. I think of the wonderful parents that you both were and extremely thankful for the memories of all of us as a family. Dad, you are together with Mom now and I know in my heart that is what you wanted. Dad, please know that I Love You a Lot and you and Mom will live in my heart forever. Dianne, Richard and I are doing the best that we can. It is really heartbreaking at times for me to go over to your house. Sometimes when I am there I sit and reflect on all the family get togethers and what a fabulous time we all had as a family. You are greatly missed and I hope that in time the pain will ease up for me.

I Love You A Lot and I pray that God is watching over you and Mom, like you and Mom always watched over your family.

With All My Love Now and Forever,

Your Daughter, Vicky

I will very much miss Laverne. I first met him in 1967 when he and Richard came to my place to look at some Pontiac racing equipment. Over the last 45 years I went to many car shows and races and with Laverne, and Charlotte often came also...it was always fun. They were super folks!

So many wonderful memories that I can remember, like all the times our families got together and played guitar with dad and you. All of those fun games of 500 with Sidney, you, dadand the rest of the family that got ibto those games. You will be greatly missed and lived by our family, but I know that you are having a wonderful time being with a lot of other family that loves you in heaven. We will someday again play music and 500 again. But until that time comes, enjoy all the time with those you are reuniting with. All our prayers and love go out to your family as they have lost a great father, grandpa, great grandpa and a wonderful human. Love and miss you LaVerne.

I have known Vern for almost 20 years and actually bought a couple of vintage cars from him over the years. In the 90's we, with my son JP, would go up to Brainerd and race the '65 Lemanns I bought from him. JP had his first experience with drag racing with Vern and I and we will never forget it. Over the years we would call each other every so often and talk racing and cars with a little fishing and music thrown in. Last year, I stayed with him for a couple days, messed in the garage, had lunch downtown and played a little music in the basement. I could tell he missed Char so much and now he is with her again. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and I will miss him greatly.
