Louis TINUCCI Obituary

Age 87 of Mendota Heights Died peacefully on May 25 in Saint Paul. He was 87 years old. Born in 1928 in Saint Paul, son of immigrant parents, Louis Tinucci, Sr. and Marie. Louie loved his family and his career in the restaurant business and he treated everyone he served at Tinucci's Restaurant like family. Hospitality was more than his work, it was his way of life. Survived by his wife Patricia, the love of Louie's life, they enjoyed an adventure-filled life. Louie was working at his parents' restaurant, Duke's Café in South St. Paul, when he met Patricia. Pat came into Duke's one day and it was love at first sight (for Louie, anyway!). They married soon after, and their first son was born a year later. Their family grew to seven children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Louie and Pat were married for nearly 66 years, and they traveled the world together, from Half Moon Lake to Pompano Beach, Acapulco, Italy, the Holy Land, European and Mediterranean cruises and beyond-enjoying good food and wine everywhere they went. His closest and dearest friends were the ones he made while traveling. Louie welcomed friends and family to his table, entertaining and serving until the very end. He was a man of faith, active in the Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and he lived the mission of his alma mater, Cretin High School. Alzheimer's changed the last few years of his life, but his love and devotion to family was unwavering. His family is grateful to the staff at Cerenity - Marian Center and Sholom Roitenberg Adult Day Center who cared for him before his death. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Louis III (Susan), John (Carrie), Mark (Morida), Greg (Lisa), Ann (Michael) Anderson, Patrick (Helen), Mary; his grandchildren, Amy (John) Hackett, Margaret (Kris) Jares, Louis IV (Melissa), Katharine (Colin Haley), Mark, Jr., Elizabeth, Amanda (Alex) Goligoski, Jack, Adam Anderson, Megan, Abigail Anderson, Natalie, Nicholas, Francesca and Anthony; and his great-grandchildren, Emanuel Kamara, Louis V, Michael, Henry Hackett and Julia. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Saturday, May 28th at the CHURCH OF ST. JOSEPH (1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul) Visitation 4-8 PM TODAY Friday, May 27th at O'HALLORAN & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME (575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul, 651-698-0796) and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery in St. Paul Park. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Brother H. Bernard Lane, FSC Scholarship at Cretin Derham Hall or Cerenity Senior Care-Marian of Saint Paul.

Lucky Louie was an inspiration to all who met him. rarely do you find such a combination of kindness, conviviality and humor. I know he's in heaven looking down on his incredible legacy from heaven. I loved his story about meeting someone in Europe who knew me from singing on the beach.

Dear John & Carrie, Mark & Morida, and all the Tinucci family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. What a grand man! I remember so well his and your family's many kindnesses to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, and the pleasure of working alongside the four of you in various volunteer efforts while I was on staff there (1994-1998). Louis and all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Blessings,

Lucky Louie was one of the kindest and caring people I have ever known. His laugh was infectious and his bubbly personality made you smile just to see him. We will all miss him and although he's playing golf in heaven now, I wish I could have said, good bye OLD FRIEND.

I remember clearly as a child the respect and fondness my parents held for Louie. He had a fun way of teasing our mother Cecelia. I think of Louie as the best person that I have ever worked for. May his generous and hospitable soul rest in Gods peace forever.

Louis was a great friend to my dad - the brother he never had - and thus our families connected. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you now. May you find comfort now that he will rest in peace.

May 27, 2016

From the Dombrock Family: For three generations you provided us with a wonderful warm place to celebrate the events of our lives. It was like sitting down in place you were expected to be. Thank you for the love and affection you showed with such sincerity and honesty you showed us all.

May 27, 2016

From Rosie and Elmer Barlow, Rosie worked with Louie and Mark for many years and has such fond memories of that time. Her remembrance of Louie and his family has lasted so many years, beyond her days as an employee to when she came back from Iowa to visit and share a meal. She was always greeted as if she had been gone for only a day or two, and reminded that she was not a former employee, but a family member who'd just moved away. In our hearts, and in our prayers, we thank you for the blessing of knowing, and sharing, such times with you all.

May 27, 2016

John and the rest of the Tinucci family - our thoughts and prayers are with you. A long and well thought of history together through the years. Your family made dinner for our families a lot of nights (especially Fridays during Lent!), sent our friends and families home well fed after graduation parties and was the final meal and meeting place at our funerals. God speed to Louie and the best to all of you in this time. We will send a memorial in your Dad's name to Cretin. Love - the Jannetto's

Dear Patsy,
Our prayers are with you and your loving Family. We know how much Louie will be missed. Fred & I have been reminiscing of the fun times with you and Louie, and your Family, especially on our boating trip down the river to St. Louis. We would stop at the marinas to fuel or spend the night and Louie would head for town we would follow as the search party figuring which restaurant he might be in and always find him in their kitchen making new friends. Great Memories. Love you all
