Marilyn BERG Obituary

1934 — 2018 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Marilyn Berg, a longtime resident of St. Paul, MN, left us for Heaven June 15th, 2018. She was born in LaCrosse, WI, 1934, and was the youngest of Agnes and Walter Munson's three daughters. She grew into an intelligent, slender, blonde-haired and blue-eyed athlete. She excelled in swimming, a skill that served her well in co-founding the St. Paul Catholic Athletic Association Girls' Swim League, and coaching the girls' team at Highland Catholic for several years. An exceptional writer, she earned a journalism B.S. degree in 1956 from the University of Minnesota. She later landed a job at the prestigious Campbell Mithun advertising agency in Minneapolis. After that, she worked in the U of M's School of Business placement office. She later spent many years as a volunteer with Catholic Charities, helping to improve scores of lives in her community. Marilyn wed Norbert Berg in June of 1957. The marriage produced four sons: Kevin (Jennifer); Mitchell (Dana); Tony and Paul (Jennifer). She was the love of Norb's life, and he, hers. They were dedicated to one another and to raising their children. "Far and away, my greatest blessing in life has been my wife," Norb said. "Boy, did I get lucky!" Marilyn is preceded in death by Agnes and Walter and her sister Shirley. She is survived by her sister Janice and by Norb, their sons, daughters-in-law, numerous grandchil-dren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marilyn's mark on the world lives on in her family, a wide circle of friends, and every person who benefitted from her love and grace. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, June 21, at 10:30 at Lumen Christi, 2055 Bohland Ave., St. Paul. Visitation prior to Mass from 9:00-10:30. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Arbor at Carondelet Village for the tender and compassionate care they provided to Marilyn. Memorials are preferred to the Catholic Athletic Association or St. Thomas Academy.

Dear Norb, My heart feels the pain that you are going through. I am not very mobile and can't attend the services at Lumen Christi. I know that there is nothing I can say or do to make you feel better but I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Godbless, Fred Zamberletti

Norb (and Family) -

I was so saddened to read that Marilyn had passed away; of course, Heaven has gained another angel, so there's peace and comfort in that.

You guys & my dad and mom go way back so I know how excited they are to welcome Marilyn in.

Marilyn was so kind to my mom both before and after Alzheimer's took her. I know mom admired how easy Marilyn made it look to juggle raising 4 busy boys, keep the household running, and devote time to you, Norb, as well.

I'm also saddened to have to miss the service on Thursday. You've been there as pallbearer for both my mom and my dad's funerals which has meant so much. I wish I could return in kind.

Love and prayers to you all as you send Marilyn home to Heaven.
