Marlys HARKLERODE Obituary

Age 79, a 25-year resident of Nisswa, died Friday, August 12, 2016 in her home. Molly was born April 8, 1937 in Rockwell, Iowa, the daughter of Victor and Josephine (Fitzgerald) Mullaney. She attended and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Mason City, Iowa and attended the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa, Minnesota with Father George Zeck officiating. Visitation with the rosary will begin at 10:00a.m. before the mass on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights, Minnesota on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Molly married George Harklerode on January 18, 1959 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mason City, Iowa. Their four children were raised in Mason City and in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. While her children were growing up, Molly worked at Divine Redeemer Hospital as a nurse and the Red Owl grocery store as a cashier and health & beauty aids manager. George and Molly moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1991, settling down on Roy Lake in Nisswa. She worked at the Carriage Gallery in downtown Nisswa for many years. Molly is survived by her three living children, Kim (Keith) Pasket, San Jose, California, Steven (Laurie) Harklerode, Lakeville, Minnesota and Keith Harklerode, Eagan, Minnesota; eight treasured grandchildren; three precious great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie (Thomas) Smith, Rochester, Minnesota, Mary (Dick) Broome, Aitkin, Minnesota, sister-in-law, Georgia Dee Graf, Mason City, Iowa as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Lynnell Marie, her husband George, her parents, her two brothers and sister-in-laws, Martin (Mary) Mullaney and Donald (Joan) Mullaney, and her sister and brother-in-law, Darlene (Bob) Linahon. Molly will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. She'll be remembered for her infectious laugh and feisty personality, her devotion to prayer, and her generous spirit with the willingness to help others in need. She left this note in her kitchen on the day she died; "An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. May you be open to each thread that comes into your life--the golden ones & the coarse ones--and may you weave them into a brilliant & beautiful life."
