Today I mentioned you, Marlys, (Mom) to your great grand daughter, Ellie, and explained who you were. (my mother, her dad's grandmother) She said, "I wish I would have met her." Ellie, who is 6 years old, said this in a wistful way. You have many legacies in your grandchildren and great grandchildren!

my sainted mother
the tears come
unexpectedly
in the most ordinary of moments
spilling over
drawing me into the full-hearted sob
of a broken heart
this dance you hadn't mastered,
but in these moments
when my world cracks open
you light the way

We've missed Mom a lot over this past year. There are many times when I've had to ask myself, "What would Mom do?" or "How would Mom handle this?" She did so much for us all! Such a sweet person. She's the best!

Even though it's been over 30 years, I can bring back the memories like it was yesterday that the Miller's moved in next door. Your mom was an incredible woman, always on the go, always involved with her kids and at the same time having enough time to care about everyone around her. Karen it seems like yesterday when she was showing me how to sew in the sewing corner of that great house on Lincoln. Her energy was contagious and I remember the envy I had that your mom drove -- since mine didn't.
Great parties, great treats and above all a great lady! Even though we have all grown apart over the years, I feel truly blessed that your mom touched my life. june

I worked with Marlys at MNA for twenty-three years. With strength, courage, and a wonderful sense of humor she always stood tall for the nurses and her patients. She could see the world from the inside out--now, she just has a better view. Thank you, Marlys, for sharing yourself with so many.

Mrs. Miller, you were like my second Mom. I'll always remember the sleep-overs, singing around the piano, Christmas cookies, and the subtle motherly advice. Thanks for looking out for my daughter at Children's hospital. Thanks for caring about my life!

I will always remember Marlys spirit and gentle care in nursing. She inspired many of us to be the best we can; especially while caring for the children at the hospital. She also fought hard for many nurses within MNA-no body knew the contract better.

I worked with Marlys at Children's Hospital 30 years ago. She was a wonderful nurse with a great sense of humor, and I was fresh out of nursing school. I learned a lot from her. My sympathies to all the family.

I will always remember Aunt Marlys' presence. She had a big presence that was warm, loving and interested in everything around her. As the family historian, she was always willing to share stories and information about our ancestors. I will miss her vibrant soul. Our blessings and condolences to Uncle Bob and cousins Craig, Mira, Mark and Sue.

Aunt Marlys was a legend within the wider family, renowned for her strength of character and her commitment to her family and children. I am grateful that she and Uncle Bob chose to stay in London during a recent trip abroad so that we had the chance to meet again, after many years. Love and condolences to my Uncle and cousins. Marlys was a marvelous person.
