St. Cloud April 15, 1931 - May 23, 2014 "To you O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God" Psalm 25:1 Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids for Rev. Max L. Schaefer, age 83 of St. Cloud who passed away on Friday, May 23 in Waite Park. Rev. Paul Cloeter will officiate and burial will be at a later date. Friends and relatives may visit one hour prior to the services at the church in Sauk Rapids on Friday. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids. Max Leon Schaefer was born on April 15, 1931 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada to Gerhard and Paula (Pieper) Schaefer. He was married to Amy Bartz on October 29, 1961. He has lived in Minnesota since 2011, previously living in Oregon. Max completed high school and continued his studies at Concordia College in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed golfing, cars and being with his family. Max loved to tell jokes and had a great sense of humor. Survivors include his wife, Amy of St. Cloud; sons and daughter, Christopher (Stephanie) of Sauk Rapids, Theodore (Nancy) of Albany, OR and Rebecca (Chris) Kurtz of Sauk Rapids; grandchildren, Andrea, Chandler, Sarah, Hannah and Nathaniel Schaefer and Tasha Kurtz; and brothers and sisters, Tim (Lana) of Burnsville, David (Judy) of Coral Gables, FL, Lois (Martin) Bauer of Lincoln, NE, Carol (Jim) Brauer of Canton, OH and Laurel Schaefer of Burnsville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
