Age 97 Passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022. Survived by children Paul (Mary), Barbara, Gail (Nick Schlotter), Nancy (Tom Burritt), 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents May Lauderdale and Henry Hofacker, beloved husband Allan (of 73 years), and daughter-in-law Judith Gundersen. Born March 21, 1924. Graduate of Oak Hall School, Macalester College (1945; biology and chemistry). An avid reader with a love for mysteries and science, May spent 39 years tape recording complex university science texts for professors, scholars and blind students. A lifelong learner with an encyclopedic mind, she would often recite poetry in Latin and German. May was a proud member of AAUW St. Paul College Club for more than 50 years and a fierce mah-jongg player. She loved all things St. Paul and Highland Park – working as an Edina Realty Realtor® in the area for more than 30 years. Favorite memories were made up at Blueberry Hill in Crosslake (picking berries, boating, fishing, enjoying the outdoors, birding and being a friend to all animals), cocktails on the deck and travel to Mazatlán, Greece and around the world with Al. She will be very deeply missed by her family and friends. Thank you to The Commons on Marice and Brighton Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul College Club Inc.
