Age 51 Of St. Paul After a nearly four year valiant struggle with colon cancer he died at home in St. Paul on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He is survived by his children Kaitlin and Jack, his parents Lucy and Richard Wilhoit, his fiancée, Annette Hruby, brothers, Andy (Katie), Chris (Kelly) and Paul (Tonya), their children, Drew, Megan, Ben, Erin, Elsie and Inga, his children's mother, Michelle, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family cannot adequately express its gratitude to Annette for the selfless care she provided to Peter during the final weeks of his life. Peter graduated from Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School, St. Paul, St. Thomas Academy and Marquette University. After learning his trade at Merrill Lynch he moved to Morgan Stanley where he became an Executive Director and was an outstanding financial advisor to his extensive clientele. Although he has a large extended family, he decided early on not to promote his investment advisory services to them. Instead, he would prove himself by starting from scratch and let his family come to him after he had proven himself, which they did. He was devoted to his children. He coached many of Jack's sporting activities and was Kaitlin's frequent tennis training partner. He rarely missed any of his children's games. He was always generous with his time and resources. He served on several boards, including Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Minneapolis where he worked his contacts to find job placements for Cristo Rey students, and Minnesota Colorectal Cancer Research Foundation. He was also a strong supporter of Wallin Education Partners for which he again used his extensive contacts to identify additional funding sources to assist Twin Cities' youth in financial need with their college education costs. One of his great pleasures was spending most summer weekends with his family and friends on his boat on the St. Croix River, or any other available body of water. His most recent trip with Annette was a three boat flotilla in July 2017 with friends off the coast of Croatia. The family wishes to thank the staff of Fairview Hospice, especially Allison and Gwen, as well as the dedicated nurses who attended to him in his final hours. Visitation and gathering with the family will occur at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (1938 Stanford Ave., St. Paul) on Friday, December 22 at 10:30 AM with a visitation one hour prior at the church.
