I just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to Edith, Donna, Rick, Connie and Todd and all the rest of your family in the loss of Dick. It's been many years but I still have memories of growing up as next door neighbors. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family in your time of sorrow.

I am the president of the USS Point Defiance LSD 31 and we want to say how sorry to hear that Richard has passed. Our condolences to his Wife Edith and his family. We thank him for his service in the Navy and a plank owner of the ship. I am sorry that we can not be at his services but we will not forget him. We will miss him at our next reunion which he has attended many times. We will have a memorial for him at our next reunion as we do for all the men that served on the Point Defiance. If there is any thing we can do for the family please let us know. May he rest in peace and watch over us. The men and women of the PD
