Robert J. FITZSIMMONS

1936 - 2020

Bob Fitzsimmons "Fitz" age 84, passed away December 10, 2020. Born June 10, 1936 in Malden, Massachusetts to the Reverend John P. and Maizie M. Fitzsimmons. Bob was from the Boston area, attended Belmont Prep School, Boston College, played collegiate hockey at Bowden College, Maine and received his Masters degree in English from Olivet College, MI following 2 years as a medic in France serving the US Army. Bob was recruited by 3M and came to Woodbury, MN in 1967. He also worked for Brown and Bigelow, Medtronic, Surgidev Corp and Eye Technology, Inc. - which he founded. Bob was loved by all who knew him. He had many passions: Gopher hockey, boating on the St. Croix, golfing at North Oaks, his love of the English language and especially family get-togethers. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Jack (1978) and Maizie (2006) and his siblings Paul E. Fitzsimmons (2000) and Faith Robertson (2016). He is survived by his sister-in-law, Christine Fitzsimmons (Cape Cod), 3 children Susie Fitzsimmons (Minneapolis), Jack Fitzsimmons II (Lake Elmo), Pamela (Phil) Lawrence (Woodbury), 7 grandchildren Travis, Jack III, Katie & Tyler Fitzsimmons, Madeline, Hootie & Maizie Lawrence and 4 great-grandchildren Kailee, Jack IV Fitzsimmons, Nora Fitzsimmons and Robert J. Fitzsimmons II. Celebration of Life Service to come.
