Roger McCLURE Obituary

I would like you to know a little bit about Dad, Roger "Bucky" McClure. His mantra in life was all about delivering. He was delivered into this world March 29, 1935. He delivered stories, experiences ,humor, friend-ship, warmth, and a gregarious take on life. Sometimes Mom would have to deliver him back home after a night of delivering jokes, adult beverages and too much St. Patrick's Day ferver. He stepped up his delivering responsibilities during his Union presidency and advocacy. He tripled his delivery routes by sitting on the Board of Directors for the Postal Credit Union for many years, state arbitrator, DFL party; national, state and local delegations and various other boards. He delivered dedication and leadership in the national association of letter carriers branch #28 for close to 30 years. He delivered passionate speeches at the state capitol and our nation's capital and to anyone that would listen for labor causes. His delivering took a pause when MaryAnn, his wife and my mom and Michele his oldest and my sister heard that God needed a delivery and they heeded his request. His delivery of instructions continued on for me, Monique his daughter and Brad his son-in-law, Michele's kids, Jereme and Jessica and great grandkids Duante and Josie and his MANY MANY friends and family members. He believed himself to still deliver instructions to me and realizing that I too became a great deliverer he realized it was through snow, sleet, hail and rain to deliver through. I learned from the best! He managed to pick up a new package at a class reunion, Betty, which he also tried delivering instruction to. Dad made his last delivery, postage paid, on December 29, 2023 which will not be returned to me. He wishes for all to come and deliver stories with each other Saturday, January 6th at Grace Lutheran Church, 1730 Old Hudson Rd., Saint Paul (of course) 55106. Short deliveries at 10:30 with a longer one at 11:30. PS Did I mention while he was a Letter Carrier through and through for 37 years, he also had dedicated 10 yrs to the old Milwaukee Railroad!

From Arland Buchner:
I am thinking of all of the good times Sandy and I had with Bucky and Mary Ann. Some of our favorite places to go were Jake's Supper Club and other restaurants by Lake Tainter. After Sandy and Mary Ann passed away, Bucky and I would talk on the phone quite a bit, especially after he got sick. He was a very good friend.

Pete and I met Roger and MaryAnn in 1966 when we moved next door to them
We have remained friends and will miss Roger very much
Through all those years we have never met any one like Roger
He had a bigger than life personality and a love of family and friends. If you have met him you will never forget that smile, sense of humor or his wonderful bear hugs.
Monique and Brad use your memories and never forget what a great daughter you were to him and that he was proud and loved you very much. Your obituary about him is a "Masterpiece"
I looked up an Irish goodbye and found this one perfect: "Nothing anyone can say will take away the pain your feeling to day. Just remember your memories can never be taken away
Our love and sympathy to you both

I´m sorry for your loss. Roger was not only a coworker at the post office and ideal Board Member. He was also my friend and boy could he make us laugh.

I'm going to miss this man so much! I first met Roger at his wife's funeral several years ago but I got to know him at events hosted at Monique and Brad's home. I always lit up when I saw him because I knew we were going to have a good conversation. I never tired of hearing his stories. I would love to have heard more about his ski jumping days. What a colorful past and life he lived! Rest in peace and rest in pride at a life well lived. You will be missed, my friend!

There are no words to describe this man. His word was his bond. His bond to the letter carrier´s of St. Paul was always there. He was great teacher and educator and guidance counselor to all. His belief in Branch 28 and what unions stood for was something special. Roger, old friend RIP.
