To Rocky's family. I share your sorrow as Rocky was truly a unique and wonderful friend. I had great times working with him in the garage at Sibley. God bless all.

Dear Diane, Lydia and Family:
My heart bled over the weekend last week thinking about your wonderful Pop and the good laughs we used to have in the valet booth at the Army Corps parking ramp. I had the greatest admiration for Rocky. I will really miss him as I know you folks will also. I always had hopes that he would come down to the garage and just sit and smile and say hi to all his old customers as they exited in the afternoon. All his customers liked Rocky. Not only did he do his job well, he always made each one of them feel like they were his favorite. It was that personal attention he would give them (or the little candy treat) he had for them if it was around a holiday.
I'll never forget him. His statement to me was always "use those mirrors" when backing up a vehicle. He knew that garage. And then there were those Saturday mornings where he would be down there cleaning the ramp floor. That garage never had it so good ... before Rocky .... or since his retirement ... the second retirement that is.
I've posted a photo or 2 in his photo album so everyone can see him when he was doing what he enjoyed most.
My condolences go to you, but my happiness wish rests with Rocky. I know now how very happy he is to be with his beloved wife, your mother. If you recall, the photo I made for him electronically, of him at his wifes side, Rocky just loved that photo. So as I said, you've got to know how happy and how pain-free he is now. I'm really happy for him. And you know we'll all see him again one day and we'll laugh and we'll have joy, beyond description.
Diane when things settle down a little, please call me or send me an e-mail. Or stop by the garage and ask the folks working there to give me a call. I'd like to see you, chat with you for a while or maybe even get lunch together. We'll talk about your Dad. You had so much to be proud of in him. I have so much adoration for him. I can truly say I loved him as a dear old friend. I hope to hear from you soon.
GOD BLESS ROCKY, and Rocky ... thank you for your service to this country and for being such a good friend always.

Diana,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. My dad (John Rivas) told me about him after we returned from vacation, I'm sorry we were unable to be at the funeral.

You are in our hearts and prayers.

He was blessed to have you as his daughter.

All our love.

To Rocky's family,
I had the pleasure of working with Rocky at the Sibley garage for a number of years. We kept in touch over the years by phone and lunches now and again. I didn't learn of his passing until late August 18th. I regret not attending his funeral. It was my honor to be his friend. Sincerely, Dick Callender

Diana,
Eventhough I have not met your Papa, I feel as if I have known him all my life from all the stories you have told me about him. I know he was a very proud and caring man. He has touched the lives of many people and all of our hearts share in your sorrow. We are all better people for having him as a part our lives. God has truly blessed you by giving you such a wonderful man to be your "Papa." I know your Papa also felt blessed for having been given such a wonderful Daughter.

May our Lord's blessings be with you and your family, always.

Salome,
You knew me as a baby, what a wonderful man you were. You loved my grandpa & grandma, your "ma" as you called her, with dignity, respect and grace. You visited them when they were lonely and my grandpa wanted to talk with one of his children, and you were always there no matter what, you never failed him! He always waited for his children to visit , and you Salome never disappointed him, ever. I have fond memories of you, you cared for me because you new how much my grandpa loved me as I did him, and now you'll rest in peace with my grandpa & grandma as I continue to think of my grandpa for the rest of my life as he's been and will always be the biggest void/loss in my life! Rest in peace Salome, my thoughts will be with you and my grandpa. The little girl that loved her grandpa very much! And Salome you were always the bigger man always, with that said, may you rest in peace.
