Fr. Stephen R. O'GARA

Age 79, of St. Paul Passed away peacefully on November 7, 2023. Survived by brother, Patrick; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Lois and James; siblings, James Jr., Timothy, Kathleen and Anastasia. Father was a graduate of St. Mark's Grade School, St. Paul, Cretin High School and the St. Paul Seminary. He was ordained a priest on May 23, 1971. He was a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis serving as Associate Pastor of St. Olaf, Minneapolis, and Pastor at St. Dominic, Northfield, St. Thomas The Apostle, Minneapolis, and Assumption, St. Paul. Father was humble, kind and considerate. Other people always came first. He had a love for dogs, especially his dog, Maeve. He will be deeply missed. A special thanks to his nieces/ caregivers, Stasia and Cindy, for the special love and care shown to Steve over the years. Special Thanks also to Father John Malone for his unending friendship to Steve and all his help and kindness to the family before and after Steve's death. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am Saturday, November 18th with visitation beginning at 9:30am at The Church of the Assumption, 51 7th Street West, St. Paul. Private Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
