Thomas ANDREWS Obituary

Age 80, of Mendota Heights Died on November 18, 2022. Preceded in death by parents, John "Les" and Myrtle Andrews. Survived by wife Carol, daughters Elizabeth and Susan, twin brother Robert (Darlene), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Tom and Bob served in the Navy for 3 years after graduating from Benilde. Tom was a gifted traditional jazz drummer who performed with many groups including Doc Evans, Hall Brothers, Barbary Coast Dixieland Band, Upper Mississippi Jazz Band, Mouldy Figs, and Jazz by Fosse. He was also a longtime employee of the All Seasons Wild Bird Store. Tom was known for a seemingly endless stream of jokes, some of them actually funny. His body was donated to the U of M Anatomy Bequest Program. Special thanks to the caring staff at HealthPartners Hospice and the wonderful staff and volunteers at St. Anthony Park Home, especially for letting Tom play the drums, quite literally until his dying day. Memorial service at 11:00 Monday, January 2 at St. James Lutheran Church, 3650 Williams Dr., Burnsville, MN, with visitation at 10:00. Memorials preferred to St. James Lutheran Church.

I am so sorry for the family's loss. He was definitely a character. My mom (Jane Sellner) traded bad, eye roll, jokes whenever there were family gatherings. I love their music. I have cd's of the Upper Mississippi Jazz Band and enjoy them. May the memories of his life sustain you through these difficult times.
