Tom was more than a friend to many of us. To me and my family Tom was that son that my parents never had and my first Pen Pal . Just a young Marine ,Tom and friends would spend leave sitting around my mothers table enjoying Southern Style Cooking every chance they had . His photography was breath taking and his sense for adventure of the Cape Fear area was ravenous, Many Thanks to the Conlon family for sharing such a fine man for such a brief time , Deepest Sympathy from The Strandquest Family

Odelia (my former classmate) and husband: I knew Tom when I worked for St. Paul Schools and attended a few fundraisers with him. Tom was an excellent Board Member, always being a very fair and thoughtful person.

Tom set a great example of meaningful conversation between people and groups who happen to differ. I was at table with Tom and others at Nativity for a farewell to a priest from India. The conversations were spirited, considerate, and as enjoyable as the Indian cuisine. I'll miss seeing Tom around town, and on TPT's Almanac, too. My condolences to Tom's family.

I met Tom at several "Meetup" potlucks. These are organized so people can meet new people. I felt comfortable when Tom was around. His pleasant personality made him easy to converse with. His photography helped us remember our moments. We exchanged our various views and techniques on photography.
Thanks, for being part of my life, Tom. You are missed.

To Tom Conlon's family:
I really wish I could've attended Tom's funeral to express my support.I was with you in spirit though. I met Tom last winter and felt tremendous shock and grief when I read the news of his passing. I was lucky to chat with him, what would be one last time, during Thanksgiving weekend. We swapped photographer stories and ideas-and he shot one of my favorite pictures of me for my Facebook profile. He had such a gentle manner and always had a pleasant smile on his face. A quiet confidence. I will make a donation to the German American Society in his name-since that mutual interest was one of our first bonding points. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Tom, I will mess your leadership on conservative strategies to support individual growth democratic institutions. Thank you for helping me and others to contribute as well.

Tom, I'm sorry I didn't know you better. I recognize in your being an "avid reader" and your belief in less-intrusive, smaller government some of my political stances/avocations. I wonder if this is our common Soler/Capaul ancestry. I, and Martin my son, (your first-cousin-once-removed) will keep working to advocate for your/our political convictions. And of course, we'll keep reading.

Tom my friend, I will miss you. I always enjoyed the times we could sit and talk about St. Paul politics and about the St. Paul School System. You were a fine friend and I will miss your thoughts. Peace my friend....

Tom you were a very good friend who will be greatly missed. Your long and dedicated service to St. Paul Public Schools, as a school board member has made a big difference in our schools.
We ran together for the school board back in 1991. You helped me with the campaign and you have always been a mentor, and very good friend.
You were a person of strong convictions, strong Republican beliefs; smaller government, fiscal conservatism and you really cared about your constituents. I can't count the number of times we would be at a function and all of the people you knew. Many of them thanking you for helping them with their issue. You served the people, as an elected official should and you made connections with the individuals you served with, no matter what political party they belonged to.
Tom, you are going to be greatly missed, but not forgotten. You live on in your good works, the impact you made on St. Paul. Tom you are a "one in a million" type of person and I am very proud to have known you and to have had you as my friend.
Take care,
John Krenik
