Thomas Robert FRID

Age 90, of St. Paul Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 9, 2024, two days prior to his 91st birthday. Tom was known to many as "Uncle DeDe" and "Papa Silly" and held the title of Mr. St. Paul 1949. Born and raised in St. Paul, he graduated from Monroe High School, class of 1950. Tom was a Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a proud member of AA - committed to his own 36+ years of sobriety and supporting others. Devoted to the Catholic Church and his family, Tom lived life to the fullest. He was always dancing and singing, cheering loudly for the Vikings and loved talking to anyone willing to listen. It was also important to him to live honestly. His legacy of living life with a positive mindset and choosing to do meaningful acts of love and service will carry on forever in the hearts of those who knew him. Preceded in death by loving wife, Donna, of over 65 years and son, Daniel. Survived by children: Tom Jr. (Anne), Terry, David, Tim (Laura), Denise (Scott) Dorgan and Tracy (Daniel) Pattenaude; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Bill (Barbara) and many nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends. The family wishes to thank his HealthPartners hospice team and Synergy Health for their loving care and compassion. At Tom's request, two services will be held. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, with a 2:00 p.m. Catholic Mass to follow at St. Stan's Church, 398 W Superior St., St. Paul. A second visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, with a 1:00 service with a luncheon to follow at The Recovery Church, 253 State St., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to The Recovery Church.
