Willard B. SHAPIRA

Passed away on December 11, 2023 at age 87. Preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Rose; brother, Michael; first wife Norma Gilstad; and second wife Leslie Johnson. Survived by children Eve (Tom) Roycraft; Joel (Karin), Steve (Cris); grandchildren Jason, Collin, Rachel, Sara, and Natalie; a nephew, two nieces, a stepson and stepdaughter. Born June 30, 1936, Will graduated from North High School, Minneapolis, in 1954 and the University of Minnesota School of Journalism in 1958. Will was a jazz aficionado, sports lover — especially tennis, reader, and enjoyed discussing politics and current events. After working 55 years in professional communications, he enjoyed volunteering for many non-profits in retirement. Will would like to thank the doctors and staff in the Allina system for great care. Special thanks to Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake. He donated his body to the U of M School of Medicine for research as a means of giving back with hope for the future.
