William FAULKNER Obituary

Age 94 of St. Paul entered into eternal life on July 3, 2021 while in Moore, OK. Born in Great Falls, MT in 1927 to Nira and Henry Faulkner. Bill grew up in Oklahoma City, served in the US Navy in WWII, and began his career in the steel business in Oklahoma before moving to Minnesota in 1968. Preceded in death by his siblings Jan and Jack, his parents, and his infant son Joseph. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Leveda (Carroll), children Richard (Sandy), Mark (Sue), Sr. Maria, Molly (David Meyer), and Bill (Erica), grand children Shannon, Joseph, Matthew, Peter, Eleanor, Theresa, Katharine, and William, and many loved ones. Bill worked as an executive for Maken Fabricating Co., American Hoist and Derrick, and his own consulting and export-import firm. He once said of his career, "It was all for the family." He served his community, leading the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, the St. Paul Rotary Club, Salvation Army, and Minnesota Diversified Industries. He served on the boards of United Hospital, College of St. Catherine, St. Paul Riverfront Commission, American Red Cross, Eastern Heights State Bank, State Bond and Mortgage Co., Serra Club of St. Paul, 2 Community Colleges, St. Thomas Academy, Visitation School, the Church of St. Luke, and 2 US Dept. of Commerce Committees, the American League for Export and Security Assistance, and other organizations. Bill was the consummate Christian gentleman – he loved and was devoted to his God, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He had the gift of "presence", and thoughtfully engaged all those with whom he came in contact. This was particularly true with children, who uniquely understood his strength, steadiness, and kindness. He was a leader professionally, civically, and philanthropically - he epitomized servant leadership to those around him, especially his family and many cherished friends. He will be sorely missed, but his loved ones are grateful for his long, still-felt presence in their lives. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 am Friday, July 9, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in St. Paul, with Rosary in church at 9 am. Interment immediately following at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on church's Facebook page. The family sincerely thanks the Little Sisters of the Poor and staff, as well as the St. John Paul II home of the Gospel of Life Disciples, for their dedicated care. Memorials preferred to St. Thomas More Catholic Church (St. Paul), Little Sisters of the Poor (St. Paul), and Gospel of Life Dwellings (Moore, OK).

So sorry for your loss. I had the honor of working for William as his secretary many years ago at American Hoist & Derrick... He truly was a gentleman, a great boss and someone I always looked up to and respected... Heaven is much richer for our loss.. But hopefully we will all see him again one day.

Bill was indeed the "consummate Christian gentleman". He left a beautiful legacy of goodness. Our love, prayers, and sympathy are with you all.

Bill Faulkner was one of the '"good guys," active and successful with his family, in business, and in his civic activities. He was a great "Fellow Rotarian."

While we mourn his passing with the Faulkner family, the world is a far better and richer place for having had his loving presence among us. Mr. Faulkner had a heart of gold, and in so many and varied ways was the embodiment of the very best of manhood! May God richly reward his faithful servant, and bring deep peace and consolation to all of his family and many loved ones!

To Bill's family: In the early 80s, I was privileged to work as a young volunteer on a few projects at the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. Bill Faulkner was one of the leaders who gave me both guidance and room to make (a few) mistakes. What an opportunity and what life lessons. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Dear Leveda and family,
I was privileged to know Bill and you in Saint Paul. He always has a smile whenever I see him. Please be assured of my prayers for the repose of his soul and for the God's consoling embrace for you and your entire family. God bless.

Leveda:
Our condolonces to you and your family. We will always remember the basketball games at St. Thomas Academy and the many times the four couples got together for dinners at each other homes. Your cards for our birthdays and anniversaries were always an uplift to us. We will always remember Bill, you and your family in our prayers. God Bless all of you.

It was a surprise this morning as I read in the paper about the passing of your beloved husband, dad, and granddad. The comment about him being a "Christian Gentleman " was spot on. I fondly remember his kind smile and when talking to him, how he was really paying attention to what you were saying. The big house on Goodrich was a place of love, fun, and family. I am sorry for your loss. May the memories that you have created sustain you during this time. Peace and love to all of you.
