Lynn C. O'Driscoll

Lynn C. O'Driscoll, a longtime resident of Duchesne, Utah, fought his last battle of mortality Oct. 18, 2012. He was born to Cornelious James O'Driscoll and Mary Emeline Janes Jan. 1, 1928 in Kamas, Utah.
Age 17, Lynn served as corporal in the elite 6th Marine Division, a defender of freedom in the Asiatic-Pacific theater, during World War 11. He was among the last marine wave restoring America's flag to the island of Okinawa, at the surrender of Japanese military forces in area of Tsingtao, China, and served with peacekeeping force there until 1947 when the 6th Division was disbanded. He also served as a private in the 113th Utility Flight of the Indiana National Guard, where he received his honorable discharge.
Lynn was a hard working problem solver, and man of few words. He worked for RCA during pioneering the television industry, a signal man for Union Pacific Railroad, worked oil fields of the Uintah Basin, drove diesel trucks for the White Trucking Company, and delighted in metals recycling. He was a loving father. His children and family were precious to him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which he cherished. He was honored to be a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Roosevelt. Lynn was also a loyal, trustworthy friend.
Lynn is survived by his four children Lynda (Don) Ashcraft of Payson, Utah; Rebecca Young of Arvada, Colo.; Michael (Cyndee) O'Driscoll of Draper, Utah; Jeff (Mary) O'Driscoll of Duchesne, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; three sisters Carol Oakes, Roberta (Leon) McCarrey, and Rulena Gray. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Muriel and Carma, and three brothers Eldon, Allan, and Cornelious Joy.
Services will be held Sat., Oct. 27, at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S, Springville, Utah. Viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Springville Historic Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and VFW, located at 200 West 400 South.
