Ruth Thacker

Ruth McIntire Thacker, age 93, passed away Aug. 25, 2012, at the Uintah Basin Rehabilitation and Sr. Villa, surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Price to Joseph and Lillian Pearl Wilkens McIntire. She married Daniel Wesley Thacker, Sept. 23, 1937, in Vernal. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 4, 1938. He died Jan. 28, 1992.
She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She took pride in her petunia and vegetable gardens. She was the best cook, known to everyone for her homemade bread, noodles, cinnamon rolls and just about everything she cooked. She enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden. She liked to travel and dance with the love of her life, Wesley. Her family, all 145 of them, was the center of her life.
She so enjoyed the afternoon rides with Annie, a sister-in-law, that she loved dearly. They would ride to the upper country to visit friends and enjoy old memories, and each other's company. They would always stop for an ice cream treat for the ride home.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as primary president, secretary of genealogy and president of the relief society teachers.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Ray) Fisher, SLC; Karma Rae (Greg) Timothy, Altamont; Wesley Dean (Leslie) Thacker, Roosevelt; daughters-in-law, Sharon Thacker, Vallorie Thacker, both of Altamont; 19 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, and 5 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley; sons, Ralph and Boyd Thacker; three great-grandchildren, Jenny, Angel and Dillon; sisters, Fern and Maxine and four step-brothers, Grant, Morris, Ross and Frank Monsen.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs. Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Altamont LDS Chapel. Friends may call Wednesday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service.
