Gino Ronco Obituary

Gino Oscar Ronco
1962-2022

Born in Ukiah, Ca. January 24, 1962, to Oscar and Marita Ronco, passed over January 27,2022, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Gino was a 1980 graduate of Ukiah High School and married his high school sweetheart Rebecca Spilner on June 21, 1980. Together for 41 years, Gino and Becky raised three sons, Joseph and Austin Ronco and Bryant Herrera, two grandchildren Aubree Jean and Paxton, as well as numerous dogs and cats. Gino is survived by his mother, Marita Patrick, his older sister Julie Kullman and husband John, his older brother Jim Ronco, nephews Jeremy and Jacob Ronco, John Kullman of Georgia and niece Dani Caldwell of Petaluma. Gino's father, Oscar, passed over in November of 1983. For many years Gino owned/operated Factory Lettering, supplying high schools and athletic teams with block letters and blanket awards as well as lettering bowling shirts, soccer shirts and most anything people wanted personalized with stitched lettering. In later years ill health limited his ability to work but gave him time to love his family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed friends, family and the "ranch" in Willits. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Gino was a true member of the sports community in Ukiah and Mendocino County. Every time I went into the shop he had some new item and idea. I still have the Thumper Bat for softball that he said I just had to have. Always good memories with this guy. To the family I knew the kids when they were little, your dad was a fine man. To his wife, you were very blessed and you get to see him again. My wife and I send prayers and thoughts to you.

I miss all the great times we had lettering all those sports jerseys, designing letterman jackets, and just working with you, Gino. I haven't seen you or your boys in a long time, but you have always been with me through my travels. I always remember your kindness and our talks about becoming and being a man. Rest in Peace my friend.

Gino's passing is sad news for us. He is loved by our whole family. In fact, we have such warm memories of Gino's family. All the Roncos are hard working, kind and gracious. Oscar and Marita raised a wonderful family!

I grew up in Ukiah and went to high school with Gino. I love that he wanted to keep in touch with his high school friends even through his illness. My only regret is that I had not had the opportunity to know him better. Fly high my friend

Oh my goodness, devastated to read of Gino's passing. To the entire Ronco family, my sincere friendship and condolences. Our families had their "kids on the blocks", the famous baseball teams Bush Street Bombers and Pine Street Apple Knockers if I remember right! And along came the 2nd crop, Gino in your family and Jennifer in ours and a few other mom's who announced the news they were expecting. We had fun times like tacos at your house, going to the drive-in and just being kids in the hood. I'm so very sorry for each of you. Gino is in good company with his Heavenly Father and his earthly father Ozzie. Love & prayers ~ Kathy (Tollini) Dogali
