Helen Lewis
WHITMIRE — God has blessed us with a wonderful Mama, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and sister for 93 years. On January 26, 2017, He decided it's time for her to be with Him.
Mrs. Helen Thompson Lewis was born on December 14, 1923 in Union County a daughter of the late Clyde and Florence Thompson. She was the widow of Claude Oscar Lewis. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Whitmire.
Survivors include her children, Mary Franklin and Patsy Lambert and husband Jeff, all of Whitmire and Sue Prince and husband Johnny of Union; five grandchildren, Veronica Glymph and husband Todd, Monica Turner, Scott Lambert, Amy Richardson, and John Prince; six great-grandchildren, Nicole McHugh, Amanda Richardson, Brad Sutton and wife Kelly, Keith Turner, Aletha Hines, and Junior Richardson; one great-great-grandson, Trevor Canada; one sister, Ruth Welch of Easley; and a brother George Thompson of Satellite Beach, FL.
In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by a brother, Albert Thompson; and three sisters, Gertie Mae Person, Luvenia Ammons, and Kathleen Shields.
Funeral Services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Pastor Ralph Byars and Pastor Johnny Burgess. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Todd Glymph, John Prince, Brad Sutton, Dennis Davis, Harold Lunsford, and Ronnie Garner.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Redemption Baptist Church, 24314 Highway 221 North. Enoree, SC 29335 or New Hope Baptist Church, P.O. Box 728, Buffalo, SC 29321.
The family is at the home of her daughter Patsy and Jeff Lambert, 6330 Whitmire Hwy., Whitmire, SC 29178.
