Adele Hendrickson Obituary

Adele Azzie Hendrickson passed away in her home in Sonora on Feb. 22, 2022.
Adele was the second of five children of Kenneth and Rosemary Hendrickson. Adele graduated as class valedictorian at Madera High School, then attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, followed by the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. She began a career in service to family law in both the public and private sectors. In 1978, she moved with her family to Tuolumne County, where she practiced family law for many years before starting work with the Tuolumne County child support agency in 2000, ultimately becoming the executive director of Central Sierra Child Support Services in 2008.
Adele was deeply immersed in her work and valued and appreciated her staff. In 2017, just before retiring, she received both the Truly B. Knox Award and the Judicial Partner of the Year Award from the Child Support Directors Association in recognition of her and her staff's dedication and ingenuity in their field.
Though she was not able to travel as much as she would have liked since retirement, Adele traveled widely around the country and later around the world. She was a voracious reader and in constant pursuit of knowledge, which she shared generously with anyone who came to her for advice. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking what she harvested. In recent months, she had taken up drawing and watercolor painting.
Adele is survived by her daughter, Letty Kraus (with former spouse Tim Kraus); her son, Jeremy Page (with former spouse Jim Page); and her sisters Mary Anderson and Jane Mabe. She was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Page, her sister, Diana Hendrickson, and her brother, Milton Hendrickson.
A public service will not be held, but Adele's family sincerely thanks those who have reached out to express their condolences, memories, and appreciation of her.
