CAROL MILES Obituary

Carol Ann (Hackett) (Lawrence) Miles, age 86, died Oct. 30, 2025, in Pearl City, Hawaii.
Born Nov. 18,1938, in Oakland, California, Carol was the oldest child of Richard Terry Hackett (1914-83) and Janet Mackenzie Hackett (1914-2002).
Graduating high school in 1953, Carol was proudly part of the second graduating class from Los Lomas High School, Walnut Creek, California. Carol's nursing education began at Samual Merritt College in Oakland,California. Postponing her education in 1957, Carol married Art Lawrence of Martinez, California. She lived in Concord, California, Lafayette, California, then moved to Sonora, California, in 1974.
Carol completed her AA degree in nursing at Modesto Junior College in 1979, worked for over 20 years as a registered nurse at Tuolumne General Hospital in Sonora and Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, California.
Carol joined her creative talents with her gardening expertise creating Herbs from the Heart in Sonora. Her herbs were used by local chefs at The City Hotel in Columbia, California, and Good Heavens in Sonora. Carol enjoyed teaching many wreath-making classes using her home-grown supplies.
In 1980 Carol married Harry Miles in Sonora, where they lived until moving to Hawaii in 2003. Carol and Harry spent over 20 years in Hawaii enjoying close friendships, volunteering at The Pacific Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Together, they traveled throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Carol learned the Hawaiian language and the meaning of Hawaiian dance while enjoying Hula classes, and lei-making classes.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Hackett (1959), and her husband ,Harry (2023). Carol is survived by her children Jeff Lawrence (Lori), of Danville,California, Donna Wagner (Jon), of Monterey, California, stepdaughter Kathy Miles Scutt (Bob), of Jamestown, California, and stepson David Miles, of Diego, California. She included as family her Hanai son, Dwayne Haynes, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Hanai daughter, Akiko Pasamonte, of Spokane, Washington.
Carol spoke proudly of her "beautiful family," counting her biggest blessings to be her eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in late January in Kona, Hawaii.
