DR. VICTOR FRANK "VIC" CHILD

Victor attended Porterville High School before graduating from The University of California, Davis as well as The University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry.
He opened his optometry practice in Sonora in 1971 and was known to many as the "Cowboy Optometrist". Vic was an avid horseman, who often greeted patients in pressed Wranglers and boots, and would be seen in his Stetson hat when leaving the office. For years, he and Missy, his cherished mare, competed in local and regional competitions.
Over the past 53 years, Vic touched the lives of thousands in the Mother Lode community through his Optometry Practice, Rotary Club, 4-H and countless additional contributions.
Vic will always be remembered for his optimism, his smile and his tireless work ethic. We will always imagine hearing him say "Hey, Hey", one more time. Above all, his true love was for his family and friends. We could not have asked for a better Father, Husband, Grandfather, Brother or Friend, and will miss him every day. His laugh and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Vic is survived by wife: Karen Child, his five children: Jon (Tyler) Child, Ashley Child, Paul (Amy) Raupach, Paris (Jen) Raupach and Philip Raupach, seven grandchildren, Mia Raupach, Malcolm Child, Zoe Raupach, Shepherd Child, Owen Raupach, JoeyJo Child and Wyatt Raupach, and brother Thomas Child.
