GREGORY THACKER Obituary
He was born in Los Angeles, California, on Dec. 16, 1948. He graduated from West Covina High School in 1967 then went on to get his contractors license. He moved to Sonora in 1981 with his family and opened Sonora Construction. We've heard from many friends, coworkers and clients what a great man our dad was and we couldn't agree more! He was a go-getter and dedicated his life to his work and took a lot of pride in every job done. He was planning to "retire" this December after 41+ years in the business. Our dad enjoyed restoring vehicles and going to Hot August Nights every year in Reno, Nevada, as this was his happy place. He loved playing Pai gow poker, Roulette and of course chatting with all the dealers. We will miss the cheesy jalapeño sourdough bread he made, all the candy (bars) he loved to create and always shared. He is deeply missed, and many of us are left heartbroken.
He is survived by his long time girlfriend, Vickie Fickel; son Danny Thacker; daughter Shannon Thacker (Jeremy Hurtado); grandchildren Jasmyn Hurtado and Joshua Thacker (Danielle Thacker); great-grandchildren Kaleb and Emmaline Thacker; sister Sandra Hansen; and Wade, Courtney, Vivian and Savannah Fickel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Gloria Thacker, and his nephew, Brian Jones.
Sierra Cremation and Burial services is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association.

My favorite memories of my brother-n-law are when Nanna and I would come up to Sonora once a year and go to Hot August Nights in Reno with Pat & Greg. Greg taught me how to play and win at Roulette, we used to have such good fun times. Good memories! He will be missed. R.I.P. Greg!

I have many memories of Uncle Greg. The giant catfish he caught in Canyon lake. The time he let me drive his Corvette. The awesome cutting board he made me and the times we played golf are just a few highlights. But the best memories are the family Pitch games we had during the holidays.
