JOHN MENDIOLA Obituary
John was raised in San Jose and enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. During his lifetime, he wore many hats including serving his community well. However, his most fulfilling work was being called to help the Vietnam veterans. He was the vice president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Sonora Chapter #391.
John is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 53 years, Pamela Mendiola; two sons, Tony Mendiola and Joey Mendiola; his brothers, Joe (Diane) DeLeon, of Lincoln, California, and Florentino Mendiola, of Argentina; his nephew, nieces, and many cousins, family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Narciso Mendiola and Refugia (Cuca) Mendiola; and his brother, Raymond Mendiola.
A church service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 17 at Mountain Christian Fellowship, 3488 Highway 4 in Murphys.
In addition, a celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 a.m .Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Tuolumne County Veterans Hall, 9 N. Washington St., Sonora.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Sonora Chapter #391, 9 N. Washington St., Sonora CA 95370.

in those days of innocent youth, tino and i used to hang out and listen to john's albums while he would be out on a saturday night. lots of good stuff, but i recall his "sgt pepper" album most of all. although he's only 7 years older than i, he was always quite mellow to us younger kids. he will be missed!
