JON JOSLIN Obituary

Son of Gladis and Jess Joslin born in the National Hotel, Jamestown, California.
Jon was an adventurer and an avid outdoorsman in a family of four Tuolumne County generations that hunted, fished, and broke every mold in the west.
His love of the High Sierra, backland packing, fly fishing, and hunting in all seasons kept him in constant movement and freedom. Family and friends admired his authenticity, integrity, honesty, and endless ability to help others without asking. He loved all furry and feathered animals, especially his dogs and mules.
While in high school he worked at the Palace Meat Market and Slaughterhouse. After high school landed his favorite employment, pulling and planing at the Pickering lumber yard, and was the last man to haul timber on the Pickering logging train. Jon served two years in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri - crossing the country hitchhiking or by train. For 26 years Jon worked heavy construction throughout Tuolumne County and was a member of the Laborers Union 1130, an affiliate of the Northern California District Council of Laborers and the Laborers Pacific Southwest Region. He greatly appreciated Hydrox Construction, Angles Camp, for 13 years of kindness and flexibility while he hunted, packed, and fished.
Our husband, father, and mentor was preceded by his parents, sister Cassie Jo, and loving and beloved great-aunt and uncle Lester and Cassie Cuff.
Still representing our family are Cheryl Ann Joslin, his wife and partner of 59 years; daughter Leslie Joslin and partner, Garrett Robbillard; daughter and son in-law Drs. Terry Joslin Azevedo and Kirk Azevedo; daughter and son in-law Jo Anne Joslin and Doug Amo; grandson Clayton Dowler; and dogs Kellie and Annie.
Per Jon's request there will be no service or celebration of life. Grab a pole and go fishing with your family or scatter some wildflowers. Please consider a donation to Adventist Health Sonora Hospice for the compassionate and kind care over the past month.

Jon and Cheryl have been our friends for over 50 years. Jon was one of the finest, nicest and kindest people I have ever met.

Kenny and Jeanette Recio

Jon was one of the "good guys" and a valued friend. Kenny worked with him at Hydrox and remembers him to be a great guy with a strong work ethic. He had many stories of his adventures in the high country. He was a kind man and he will be missed by many. Always sincere and a gentle spirit. Our sincere sympathy to Cheryl and his family. Jon may you soar like an eagle and rest peacefully forever. We loved you, Kenny and Jeanette Recio.

The picture is of the Hydrox crew taken in 1993. Jon is in the back row on the far left. I always referred to this crew as "The Band of Brothers" and always will. They had a true bond.

I have memories of visiting Jon and Cheryl at their home when I was young. My Dad (Bobby Marshall) and Jon were friends and both had mules from the Yosemite Pack String many years ago. I can just imagine all the stories Jon had to tell. So sorry for your loss Joslin family.

I hadn't seen Jon in decades until the recent funeral for Dave Slicton. We had a nice chat. We hung out with the same friends in high school.

Jon will be missed, we enjoyed him when he worked at Hydrox Inc. He was a hard worker, always had a story to tell about his hunting and fishing.
