LEON JAMES MANICH

1955 - 2023

Leon James Manich, a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on July 19, 2023.
Leon was born in Sacramento, California, and had lived in Tuolumne County for the past 45 years, where he worked as a registered professional forester and business owner. Leon was an active member of the community, and was particularly active in youth sports. He formerly served as the president of Tuolumne County Youth Soccer and was a constant presence at youth sporting events of all kinds across the county as a coach, parent, or fan. Leon was a scuba diving enthusiast and cigar aficionado.
Leon is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Manich; his brother, Steve Manich, of Sacramento; his three children, Cara Gregor, and her husband, Benjamin Gregor, of Sacramento, Tyler Manich, and his wife, Tracey Manich, of San Diego, and his son, Neil Manich, and his wife, Kerry Ingram, of Sonora; and his three grandchildren, Everley Manich, of San Diego, Easton Manich, of San Diego, and Isaac Manich-Ingram, of Sonora.
Leon was preceded in death by his father, Albert Manich, and his mother, Dorothy Manich.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at Teleli Golf Club, 17566 Lime Kiln Road, Sonora. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diana J White Cancer Center.
