MARTIN GUNN JR Obituary

Martin William "Bill" Gunn Jr., a Navy veteran and skilled craftsman, passed away peacefully at age 96 in his home in Sonora, California.
Born June 12, 1929, Gunn served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. A dedicated tradesman, he worked as a meat cutter for 38 years and was a proud member of the Meat Cutters Union. From 1985 to 2012, he was a cabinet maker known for his fine craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Gunn enjoyed hunting with his English setter bird dogs and devoted much of his life to Christian service. Since 1984, he volunteered with Gideon Bible Ministry and, alongside his wife, Barbara, served across the United States with the S.O.W.E.R.S. Ministry, supporting various Christian camps.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Gunn; four children, Bev Gunn, Raymond Hebert, Sheree Renard and Stafford Hebert; and six grandchildren, Alex Hebert, Charlie Hebert, Markus Hebert, Rebecca Muna, James Evans and Ursula Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gordon F. Gunn (1956); his mother, Leona Gunn (1980); his father, Martin Gunn (1989); and his brothers, Gordon Gunn (1943), Harley Gunn (1985) and Arnold Gunn (1990).
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Christian Heights Church in Sonora, California.
Donations may be made in his memory to Gideon Bible Ministry, P.O. Box 164, Standard, CA 95373.
