Shirley Engles-Moore passed away on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at the age of 85. Born in Kalamazoo Michigan in 1936, she grew up and raised a family there. During the Great Depression, her parents had difficulty providing for her, so Shirley's aunt and uncle took her in. Her aunt read her Bible stories, which became a foundation for her trust in Jesus. She began college at Western Michigan University in 1954, where she met John, a Korean War veteran. They married and raised a family. Their marriage endured until John passed away in 1997. Shirley worked at GM. One of her coworkers, who became a close friend, witnessed an inner strength and confidence developed in Shirley during their employment and long commutes to work. In 1999, Shirley retired and moved to Copperopolis, California. She remarried and enjoyed her remaining years with Henry Moore, her second husband. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Engles, in 1997, and her daughter, Sharon Engles, in 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Teri Frederickson (John), and son Jerry Engles (Amanda), and second husband Henry Moore. A memorial service will be held in Kalamazoo Michigan.
