Agathe Frederique Victorin

Agathe Frederique Victorin, formerly of Manchester, NH, passed away on December 7, 2020, in Portsmouth VA, at the age of 92.

Born in Petionville, Haiti, on January 31, 1928, to Louis-Philippe and Christine Frederique, Agathe was the oldest of 6 children, where she grew up on a verdant family farm. After marrying and starting a family of her own, Agathe emigrated to the US, arriving in February of 1971, with four young children in tow and the family settled in Manchester, NH, where she remained until moving to Virginia in 2005.

Above all else, Agathe's greatest joy was caring for children. In addition to raising her own family, she became a foster mother, and her home was always full as she babysat her grandchildren and took care of children whose families' she lovingly made feel as part of her own.

Agathe is survived by her children, Gladys, of Petionville, Haiti; Alix Victorin and his wife, Patricia, of Wolfeboro, NH; Alfred Victorin of Manchester, NH; Trebly Victorin and his wife, Donna, of Raymond, NH; and Helena Cooke and her husband, Danny, of Portsmouth, VA. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Arnold Frederique and sister-in-law, Lucille, of Bedford, NH; her sister, Dieula, of Petionville, Haiti; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Agathe is predeceased by her son, Gary Victorin, who passed in 1983 at age 20; her sisters, Marie-Claire, Fifi and Bertha; and her grandson, Luke.

All services will be held on Tuesday, December 29th. Visitation will be held at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester from 9AM-10:30AM. Agathe was a devout Catholic who drew great comfort in her faith and her family will honor her life by holding a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Saint Joseph Cathedral, 145 Lowell Street, Manchester, with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bedford. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved son, Gary, finally healing a mother's broken heart as she is reunited with him in heaven.

Please note current restrictions limiting funeral home and church capacity to no more than 50%. Those in attendance are respectfully requested to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
