Albert Cote Obituary

Albert Henry Cote was born November 28, 1926. He spent the final days of his life the way he wanted, at his home surrounded by love and family. The man with a few nicknames, the oldest brother of 6 boys, most often referred to as #1. He was later given the nickname "Kiyi" from friends and family. But his proudest and most endearing nickname was that given by his grandchildren; they, as well as many others, called him Papa. Papa passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2017 at 8:30pm holding our hands and reminding us of what true love is. Papa proudly served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and then enlisted with the Coast Guard Reserves and retired with Honors as a Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate. During his early years of employment, he drove buses for the Manchester Transportation Authority and did plumbing and electrical work. He later started his own business after becoming a Master Plumber and Master Electrician. He owned 37 acres of land in Londonderry where he raised his family and helped save one of the oldest Chestnut Trees in the state that is still flourishing to this day. Ironically, his former land is now the Army Reserves Training center.

Papa went on many adventures and brought laughs and love to many people. He bought a motorcycle at 70, went ziplining at 85 and four wheeling at 90. He loved gardening, a good glass of Zinfandel, soaking up the sun, corn on the cob and his kitty Dazzle as well as his days at Senior Class in Hampstead. His eyes lit up when the kids entered the room. He was proud of his family and loved by them all. Papa worked hard for everything and taught his family what integrity was. Papa is survived by his children: Son Kenneth Cote, Daughter Patricia Allen and her husband Peter Allen, and Son Michael Cote. His grandchildren: grandson Craig Payne and fiancee Sara Morin, grandson Curt Payne, grandson Chris Payne and longtime partner Christie Fulling, granddaughter Courtney Reel and her husband Adam Reel, grandson Matthew Cote, and grandson Michael Cote Jr., granddaughter Christina Allen, and granddaughter Kylie Allen-Hosley and her husband Jamie.

There will be a Celebration of Life Nov. 26, 2017 at Papa's home in Litchfield.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Senior Class, 201 Route 111, Hampstead, NH 03841.

So very happy for Papa to have been able to spend time with those who loved him. Never was able to get to know him well, but certainly admired and respected him. Many kudos to Craig and Sara (and other support folks) that allowed his life to be its best....

My Dearest Uncle Kiyi,
The world will definitely feel a lot smaller without your presence in it any longer. I feel very privileged to have called you my Uncle, you had a very rough and tough veneer but once pierced your humanity shined through brilliantly. I personally witnessed the genuinely compassionate, loving and caring individual you really were with the capacity to love and the willingness to always help others. I had the unique opportunity to bond with you over the years and I'll always treasure those memories...

What a beautiful obituary for obviously one who well deserved it. I was so touched and blessed reading this this morning. How beautiful to see such affection and love for another in todays world. Papa taught you well. Papa lives on in all of you who loved him. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
