CONCORD -- Alfred Wesley Amundsen, 90, of Christian Avenue, died June 22, 2008, at Havenwood.
He was born in Newport, to Alice (Boutillier) Waters. He was raised in Effingham Falls and was educated at Parsonsfield Seminary in Parsonsfield, Maine, graduating in 1933.
He was a research machinist for several employers including, Bethlehem Steel, Harvard University and Arthur D. Little Inc. of Cambridge, retiring in 1974. He was then a self-employed machinist for 12 years before retiring in 1986.
He lived in East Wakefield for 20 years before moving to Concord in 2002.
Family members include his wife of 70 years, Lillian (Wilkins) Amundsen of Concord; two sons, David L. Amundsen of Londonderry, and Paul A. Amundsen of Exeter; a daughter, Beverly McCoy of Chelmsford, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Effingham Falls Cemetery, Effingham. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the auditorium at Havenwood, 33 Christian Avenue, Concord.
Memorial donations may be made to Havenwood-Heritage Heights Endowment Fund, 33 Christian Avenue, Concord 03301.
