Armand H. "Tiny" Gaudreault

Armand H. "Tiny" Gaudreault, 86, of Manchester, NH died at home surrounded by family on December 26, 2022. Armand was born in Manchester, NH, on July 6, 1936, he was the son of Harmel and Cecile (Dunn) Gaudreault. He spent his formative years in St. Joseph Orphanage, Nashua, NH and graduated in 1955 from Bishop Bradley High School, Manchester, NH. He joined the NH National Guard with his mother's signature in May 1952 and retired as Master Sargent E8 after 31 years of service.

During high school, he worked with his grandfather (Phillipe) who taught him the finish carpentry trade at West Side Construction. He later started his own construction business, AKM Corp. and operated it for many years. In 1970, he began working for the City of Manchester as Assistant Building Inspector and retired in 1998 as City of Manchester Building Commissioner. During that time, he served as Chairman of the Manchester Planning Board, Chairman of the Plumber's Licensing Board in Concord, NH and represented the Plumbing and Heating Contractors of New England in Washington, DC. During his tenure with the Building Department, he also worked closely with the Manchester School of Technology and was instrumental in the development of the Building and Construction Program for the school. That program continues today. He obtained the first parcels of land on which the students learned how to build houses. On many occasions he rolled up his sleeves to show the students how to build stairs and help them out with any problems they were having.

He always enjoyed camping, boating, and sitting around the fire with his family. After retirement he and his wife, Barbara, wintered at their condo in Cocoa Beach, FL for many years where they spent their time golfing. In later years, they enjoyed life at their lake house in Tilton, NH.

Armand is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Barbara (Mullen), and his family: Denise Schwendimann (John), Susan Royce (Donald), Jeanne Wurtele (Rick), Janice Johnston (James), Robert Gaudreault (Pamela), Paul Gaudreault (Ariane), Christine Hodge (James), Brian Collins (Lisa); fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his sister, Paulette Jacques; and his brother, Ronald Gaudreault (Claire); nieces and nephews.

Services: Calling hours are Monday, January 2, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.

Armand had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Rd., Manchester, NH.

Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Manchester School of Technology, Building and Trades Division, or to Manchester Visiting Nurses Association.
