Donald Brand Obituary

Donald Brand, aged 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10. He is survived by his wife Greta; his son Bobby (Kathy); his daughter, Rachel; his grandsons Dylan and Ellis; his sister Susan (John), his sister-in-law Robin; and nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews and friends. He and his wife shared 45 years of marriage.

Although he disliked school, Donald studied engineering at the University of Maryland College Park, law at the University of Baltimore, and public health at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health (now the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Hopkins). When he retired, he was working for Baltimore County, and missed his colleagues.

He volunteered in his beloved community of Darlington, Maryland, and elsewhere in Harford County, where he had practiced law. He enjoyed travel and was a prolific reader. He loved being on the ocean and the Bay, whether kayaking or sailing; working on the house; spending time with good friends and family; playing the piano and visiting favorite locations in our country. He loved and felt proud of his kids and his grandsons. He was also a good dancer.

He will be missed.

The family invites you to join us in remembering him at: Main Street Tower, 29 S. Main Street, Bel Air, Maryland, Tuesday September 16 noon - 3:00 pm

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a charitable donation to: The Parkinson's Foundation, The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Don was a highly intelligent man who could build a house, sail a boat, while resolving legal questions. He brought Ripken Stadium to a completion and helped solve bringing water to the property under I-95.i will be receiving Chemo so I cannot attend. My condolences to Greta, Bobby, Rachel, and the grandchildren
