Bradbury M. Prescott

FRANKLIN - Bradbury M. Prescott, 89, a lifelong resident of Franklin, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Franklin Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.

Brad was born in Franklin, Oct. 11, 1922, son of Frank and Georgine (Audet) Prescott. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Franklin High School. He joined his father at the Prescott Oil Company in Franklin, taking ownership in 1958. Brad also owned and operated Prescott Nursery.

An avid gardener, he designed and created a large formal garden at his home that drew many visitors. He was actively involved in the antique business all during his lifetime, both as a dealer and appraiser. He was interested in photography, eventually publishing a book of his photographs entitled, "Coastal Maine As I See It." Brad served on the board of directors of the former Franklin Cooperative Bank for 23 years, was a member of the Knox County Camera Club in Maine, International Appraisers Society and American Nurserymen.

He was predeceased by his sister, Helen B. Prescott Lang in 2000. He leaves, his daughter, Pamela Prescott King and husband Bruce of East Boothbay, Maine; cousins, James B. Prescott of Massachusetts and Henry B. Prescott of Connecticut; stepchildren, Shawn and Tiffany Nicholas; and his longtime caregiver, Pam Nicholas; a nephew, John Wall, and niece, Jeannette Arbuckle, both of Illinois.

services:Following Brad's wishes, there are no calling hours planned and a private graveside service will be held for his family at the Franklin Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton.
