M. Newberry Obituary
Lizella , GA- M. C. Newberry Jr., 84, passed away on Monday, April 29 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Garner officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:00 -8:00 PM at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. The family requests that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 7495 Knoxville Road, Lizella 31052.
Mr. Newberry was born in Byron, to the late Eunice Tidwell Newberry and M. C. Newberry, Sr. He is predeceased by his daughter, Glenda Newberry; brothers, James Roy Newberry, Howell F. Newberry, and Bobby R. Newberry and sister, Velda "Boots" Mathis. Mr. Newberry was a member and Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Bethelites. He was the choir director at Cherry Blossom Nursing Home. Mr. Newberry was retired from Tommy Smith's Trucks as a shop foreman.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Tucker Newberry of Lizella; children, Sharon Newberry (Billy) Manning of Lizella, and Stan (Terri) Newberry of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Drew Manning, Coby Manning, Michael Newberry and Ella Newberry, and his sister, Doris Newberry Burnette of Las Vegas, NV.

I WANT YOU TO KNOW I HAVE SUCH FOND MEMORIES OF MR. M.C. HE REALLY MADE ME LAUGH SO MANY TIMES. HE WAS A WONDERFUL FATHER AND WONDERFUL MAN. Mrs. Betty my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Mr. M.C. was a wonderful man and I have lived you two all my life. It's funny how he seemed to never age. Just as big, burly, and happy as ever when he saw me and of course, gave me one of those huge hugs of his. It really saddened me to hear this. My love to you and your family.

I had mixed feelings upon hearing of his passing. I know he is home now with Jesus and what a joy that is but I also know that he will be missed here by his family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time. Hold on to Jesus and He will comfort you.
