David Clement Obituary

David W. Clement, 85, died peacefully at home on October 24, 2021. He was born on August 4, 1936 in Woodsville, a son of George F. Clement and Ethel Bronson Clement. He was blessed to live his life on the Jockey Hill Farm. David went to the Blue School and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1954. He graduated from UNH Thompson School of Agriculture to prepare for his life at Jockey Hill Farm. His Ayrshire cattle have been well known at fairs, shows, and auctions. He worked in the sugar orchard making maple syrup. He started with buckets and ended with all the bells and whistles in the sugaring operation. Now his two sons continue farming with beef cattle, hay sales, and maple syrup. David's first love was family. He was a sports enthusiast, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. When his grandchildren played on high school teams, he attended every game throughout the years. He was very proud of his little town of Landaff. When he met someone new, he would very proudly say, "I'm from Landaff, NH." David and his golden retriever, Kelly, enjoyed riding around the farm in the John Deere gator.

His lifetime was filled with local town offices and organizations. He was the Landaff Town Constable, Health Officer, and Trustee of Trust Funds. He was a member of the Elks Club, Lions Club, charter member of the Stump Jumpers, Mt. Hope Grange for 70 years, a State Grange officer, and a member of the Grafton County Agricultural Conservation Committee. If you didn't think that he wasn't busy enough on the farm, he also was a rural mail carrier in Franconia and Sugar Hill for many years. He met his wife, Gayle, on his mail route.

Predeceased by parents, George and Ethel Bronson Clement, sister Barbara Clement Gould, wife Janice McBurney Clement, wife Brenda Gray Clement. David is survived by his wife Gayle Horner Clement; sons Kevin and Tom Clement, their significant others Sarah Hicks and Tammy McKenzie; Step-children Jeffrey Bean and Karen Demers and husband Bill; Grandchildren Jameson and wife Connie, Jacob and significant other Dorie Horne, and Sydney and significant other Matt Mardin; great grandchild Carson; sister Ann Clement and Joyce Read, North Haverhill, NH, niece Elizabeth Morris and husband Norman, Amesbury, MA and nephew Jeff Gould and wife Beth, Barre, VT, a grand niece and 4 grand nephews and cousins. He was asked to make a bucket list of things he wanted to do. The list consisted of 6 restaurants he wanted to eat at. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in David's name be made to Lisbon NH Fast Squad or the Lisbon Historical Society. A grave side service will be held at the Landaff Cemetery on November 6, 2021 at 10:30. Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Dear Gale, Ann, Kevin, Tom and families- I share your sadness in David's passing and offer prayers for everyone as you celebrate his life. David and I go back to high school days, Woodsville v.s. Lisbon rivalry in basketball and baseball- my brother Charlie 2 years older, and me and girl's, teams, 2 years behind. Mostly I cherish my days in Lisbon and Landaff because of the Clements.
I was such a great foil for David and George at the post office, and bank for all their teasing and pranks, So proud to read how much your family has grown and added, and feel secure the Clement Farm will last for future generations to come. Dan "the Gupster" sends his very best regards and prayers to Ann, Kevin, Tom and their families from Georgia.
