David Guimont Obituary

BEDFORD - David Y. Guimont, 69, of Bedford, died Nov. 13, 2012, at his Florida residence after a long illness.

He was born in Manchester on June 20, 1943, to Yvan and Lucienne (Denoncourt) Guimont. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1961 and always spoke fondly of his time there with his classmates and teachers.

After graduating, he worked as a painter with Guimont Painting Company. He later sold the business to Associated Concrete Coatings, where he worked his way up from foreman to president and owner. His diligence has made this family business thrive and is now in its second generation. He was an expert in spray technologies and concrete repair and always kept up with the latest advances in his field.

David was a former board member of the New England Institute of Concrete Repair and the Franco American Center. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, serving as its New Hampshire delegation representative. He organized and led a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

He was a communicant of St. Marie Church in Manchester, St. Andre Bessette Parish in Laconia and St. Mark Church in The Villages, Fla. He enjoyed traveling, including trips to Quebec City and Montreal, Canada, and spending summers at Lake Winnipesaukee and winters at The Villages, Fla.

David enjoyed building projects and had renovated several homes during his lifetime. He loved all things trivia and history, especially that of World War II and the City of Manchester. He also loved gardening and had a special talent for growing roses at his Bedford home. He was extremely proud of his French-Canadian ancestry.

He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father and brother who loved watching his children and grandchildren at their school and sporting events. He was very proud of all of them.

He was predeceased by his sister, Denise G. Maurice in 2005.

The family includes his loving wife of 49 years, Doris (Bouchard) Guimont of Bedford and The Villages, Fla.; five children, Christine Hall and her husband, Tom, Danielle Tuttle and her husband, Tim, and Jeffrey Guimont and his wife, Linda, all of Bedford, Michelle Guimont and her husband, Ian Robinson, of Manchester, and Marc Guimont and his wife, Rebecca, of Bedford; 17 grandchildren, Brittany, Andrew, James, Timmy, Katherine, Christopher, Elisabeth, Abigail, Madeleine, Meghan, Lea, William, Henry, Kelley, Delaney, David and Shea; two great grandchildren, Elijah and Nathan; two sisters, Andrea Rowley and her husband, Craig, of Dover and Julie Allen and her husband, Bill, of Manchester; a brother-in-law, Tom Maurice of Merrimack; and several nieces and nephews.

.

services: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. David and I were childhood friends and after many years of absence we met again in The Villages Florida. Needless to say our meeting was quite pleasurable. Unfortunately our meetings were short lived. His unfortunate departure was heart wrenching. Although you are no longer with us in person you remain in our hearts. Adieu mom ami.

Dear Doris and family,
I am grateful to have known David and to have learned so much from him in the 12 years that I worked for ACC. David's generosity of mind and spirit and the opportunities he gave all his employees was tremendous. It seemed that just about every week, I would learn something new from David, even just in a passing comment he might make. David's love and pride for his family was unequaled and admired. His strength of family seemed to remind us all how important family is, and for that we should all be grateful.
They say that the brighter a star burns, the quicker it will burn out. Well, David was one of the brightest minds I ever knew, and his passing was too soon. Time heals all wounds, but I know that it will never fully heal the hole in the hearts of those who love him. Our deepest and sincerest sympathy to your family. May your memories of him comfort you.

David Guimont family....I occasionally look at the Manchester obituaries and ran across David's name. I was a friend of David when he lived on Green Street...spent a lot of time with him in his skating ring and playing football in the back street. Sad to see him pass just want to connect with his family.

Dear Doris & Family: I write these words with heavy heart. David & I date back to our childhood in Manchester. I recall the many hours we spent playing ball with our friends and building forts in Dave's back yard. Such fond memories! Times were sweet and less complicated then. I also had the pleasure to meet you in The Villages, Florida. Each occasion was a pleasurable one. Your passing was also a painful one. Rest in peace with our Lord dear friend. Love Ed Duchesne

Each brief visit was truly a pleasure to be with him and to catch up to our past. I'll love you always dear friend. Rest in peace with our Lord. Ed Duchesne

Dear Guimont Family,

Our hearts goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. We know that no words can help ease the pain and loss that you are feeling. You are in our prayer and thoughts.

I recall those little things about David, and the everyday occurrences, such as his generosity for the hungry and the fallen, and the families of those who he employed, and most of all his brilliant mind. I have always admired him for his entrepreneurial success, love of family and the opportunity he gave me, to be part of his vision for so many years. We are deeply saddened by your loss and will cherish the memories of the times we spent together. We are with you during this time of grief and beyond.

We all thought of him fondly at the annual Investiture of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem just this past weekend in Newport, Rhode Island. Last evening, his name was read during the Investiture Mass. David was always so pleasant and friendly, even in the midst of trying health issues. He will be missed. Rest in peace, David.

We wish to extend our deepest sympthies on the loss of your loved one and may his soul rest in the house of the LORD this very day. It was my fervent hopes and prayers that David would have stayed with his family a lot longer but when the FATHER of HIS children calls, we have no choice but the rejoice in HIS Glory. I managed to talk with David early in his illness and to his wife Doris but medical issues on our end have kept me quite busy from further phone calls to him over the past months. Thank you so very much for sharing his illness with me Doris and be assurred that he will be remembered in our prayers.

The Bishop Bradley, Class of 1961, would like to extend to the entire Guimont family our sincere sympathies on David's passing.

At a time like this it usually helps to remember some of the good times. What comes to mind occurred fourteen months ago at the three events 50th Reunion of the Bishop Bradley HS Class of '61. Dave had previously told me that he was concerned that with his medical condition, that he might not be able to attend.

I recall talking with Dave several times at the different reunion events, and him telling me just how much fun he was having by simply being there and talking with many of his old friends that he hadn't seen in decades. I can attest that Dave had a great time at the reunion and I recall that wonderful smile on his face that will remain with me always as I'm sure it will with many other of our classmates.

David will certainly be missed amongst our ranks, but he'll never be forgotten.

Again, I extend our deepest sympathies to all of Dave's family and friends from the Bishop Bradley HS, Class of ‘61
