Edward Spuler Obituary

Edward J. Spuler, Jr., 86, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Hanover Hill in Manchester with his family by his side. He was born on September 8, 1939 in Neptune, NJ to the late Edward J. and Anne (White) of Freehold, NJ.

Ed was a good student and grew to be a very principled man with an immense love of history. He served in the U.S. Air Force, although his service was cut short due to his father's ill health and his family's need for him to return and assist them financially. His service to his country had a profound effect on his life that he cherished and honored immensely! His professional life included stints at McGraw Hill Publishing, ESSO, Interdata and Digital Equipment Corporation. His growth within the computer industry started when computers were larger than rooms and concluded with desk tops that were exponentially more powerful.

He married Terry Ehman of Freehold, NJ in 1965 and they had two children and three grandchildren. Ed was always supportive of the activities of his children and grandchildren. In his own words, "Fatherhood was my proudest achievement."

Ed often included his children's friends on vacations and trips. He was known for his infectious laugh, wonderful ability to counsel friends and family through trying times with his wisdom and was affectionately known as The Pope to some close friends.

Ed is survived by his two children: Kathleen Spuler and her partner Mark Libertini of Nashua, Edward J. Spuler III and his wife Sandra Silsby of Dover; his older sister: Theresa Spuler of Nashua; his ex-wife: Terry Spuler of Nashua; and his three grandchildren: Garrett and Karli Labonte, Margaret Spuler; many extended family members, including nieces, nephews, and in-laws that will miss him greatly.

In addition to his parents, Ed is predeceased by his siblings: Mary Ann, and Frances Spuler.

Our family wants to thank all the amazing care givers over the last few months that assisted Ed on his journey. The consistent care at the VA Center in Manchester, the staff, doctors and nurses of Manchester Urology, the ER and Progressive Care staff, doctors and nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua and the management and amazing doctors, nurses and staff at Hanover Hill in Manchester. We are forever grateful for your care and support!!

A private service will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.

In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to the Pease Greeters Fund, P.O. Box 1644, Portsmouth, NH 03802. This donation will honor Ed's love of the service, and the deep and everlasting effect it had on his life.
