Elizabeth Zotto Obituary

Elizabeth "Boo" Zotto, of Bedford passed away from Pancreatic Cancer on Saturday, January 30th 2021 at her home surrounded by friends and family. She was born in Schenectady, NY on March 7th 1958 to the late Edward and Mary (DeAngelus) Stevener. She graduated from Russell Sage College with a bachelors degree in Nursing. Boo worked as a pediatric nurse in the cancer ward of Strong Memorial Hospital in NY until moving to New Hampshire with her husband Dan in 1983. Boo then worked as a pediatric nurse at Dartmouth Hitchcock for many years until transitioning into a member of the school system of Bedford, as the school nurse at McKelvie Middle School and Ross A. Lurgio Middle School. She worked as a school nurse for 20 years until she retired. When she was not working, Boo enjoyed volunteering her time to help those in need. Wether it be working food drives, or fund raisers, she always wanted to give back and help anyone she could. When she was not giving back to the community, she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and collecting antiques. Most of all, she especially enjoyed being "Mema" to her grandson Caleb who she adored more than anything.

Boo will be forever loved by her husband of 39 years, Daniel Zotto; her son Michael Zotto, and his wife Lindsay Zotto; and her beloved grandson Caleb Zotto. She was pre-deceased by her sister Cindy Walsh and half sister Susan O'Brian. She leaves behind two brothers David and Michael Stevener, a half brother Stephen O'Brian, along with many nieces and nephews.

A public walk through will be held on Thursday, February 4th, 2021 from 4pm-7pm at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack NH. Due to COVID and with respect to everyone's safety, masks will be required for attendance. We are asking people to walk through and pay their respects, but please do not stay inside the funeral home to allow others to visit. To the Zotto Family,

When my parents told me Boo passed away, it hit me like a truck. She helped me on so many occasions through middle school, even driving me to the hospital when I had cardiac episodes. To some, she was only the school nurse, to me; she was an angel on earth. Thank you for helping me throughout my childhood, helping me with my cardiac arrhythmia, being the one who caught it when I didn’t know what was going on. You saved my life, and I cannot thank you enough.

Rest easy, Boo. You’ve still been in my thoughts throughout these years. You will be missed.

To Boo's Beloved Family, You will probably never know all the lives Boo touched in her generous giving way. As a parent of a child who had a medical condition that needed daily monitoring, she was a true gift. Her knowledge and steady way gave me so much reassurance and alleviated so much worry! I always remember back at the Mckelvie's graduations, she would get the loudest round of applause-because the kids and parents all loved Mrs.Zotto! May your memories keep her with you everyday! Dear Dan, Mike and Dave,
My sincerest condolences on the passing of your wife, mother and sister. As many have expressed, Boo was a huge support for the community. What some may not know, is that through quiet efforts and without need for acknowledgment, she organized and supported assistance for the medically and financially vulnerable. I was in awe of what she could accomplish! Working in the front office at McKelvie gave me opportunities to see her gentle and firm methods, always looking for good solutions, always advocating for kids. Whenever I looked to her for advice, I came away with a deeper perspective on a situation. Mike, thank you for your graciousness in sharing your mom with students. I know she made a difference for so many of them. I regret not being able to attend the memorial, please know that you and your families are in my thoughts.

I am very saddened, to have learned, of the passing of “Boo”. A special bright light, in the lives of everyone who knew her. The great memories, of our formidable teenage years, spending time with the Steveners, Reos, Wilarys, Giemzas, Tessitores, DeAngelus family members, whether it was at their homes, or at the Niskayuna Club. God bleseed us with her presence but took her way to soon. May she rest in peace!

Boo was an amazing woman! I will cherish our many years with her during the week at Cardigan, where she would insist on checking up on her diabetic students every two hours all night.... no matter how cold, rainy or dark it was. True dedication to her students.
She was gentle but stern, fun loving but serious, and one of the most caring people I have ever known. Cardigan will never be quite the same, she will be the sun rising each morning to guide the days hikes and the moon each night watching over them as they sleep. We have lost a friend, but gained a guardian angel.

Dan, Mike and Family,
So sorry for your deep and profound loss.
I will always remember Boo's kindness, warmth and reassurance the first time I met her - initially as the school nurse and then later as steady, caring friend, and fellow hockey parent.
Boo always had a twinkle in her eye and was quick to share a laugh about the joys of parenting a boy.
She was always fiercely proud of you Mike, I can only imagine how thrilled and proud she must be to have Caleb.
A grandmother indeed. Wishing you all strength, comfort and so much love in the coming days.

Boo, was the first member of the Bedford School system I met when I moved here from Upstate NY over 15 years ago. She calmed my fears, she calmed my children's fears with a simple hug and reassurance that she would be there if we needed anything. Her genuine kindness and emotional support made our world ok. I will never forget the impression and imprint she made on my soul as a person. Her kindness and compassion for others lives on in the lives of those she touched. We all are better people for knowing Boo. May God bless the next part of her journey, My deepest sympathies to this family.

Bedford has lost a gem. Boo was one of a kind. Kind, giving, loyal, compassionate and uniquely herself. She was always thinking of others, not herself. Even in the face of challenges that would break the best of us, she would inquire about your husband, your child, your grandchild, and even your dog, rather than focus on herself. I will miss my friend, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to Dan, Mike, Lindsay, Caleb, Uncle Dave, and all those who knew and loved Boo. May she Rest In Peace and may your memories bring comfort and eventually smiles in the days and years ahead.
Love from Lori Uliasz and family
