Francis Burns Obituary

ROCHESTER -- Francis M. Burns II, 96, formerly of Hyde Park, Mass., died Nov. 20, 2008.

He was a member of the Boston Marine Society, Master Mates & Pilots' Union and Navy League of the U.S., Portsmouth Chapter.

Family members include his wife, Gertrude (O'Hara) Burns; sons, Francis M. Burns III of Virginia, Richard A. Burns of Derry, and Robert A. Burns of Walpole, Mass.; a daughter, Gertrude MacLeod of Merrimack; a sister, Claire Ough of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

IN HIS LIFE: Family members also include a son-in-law, Kenneth MacLeod of Merrimack; and daughters-in-law Nancy Burns of Derry and Mary Burns of Walpole, Mass. He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Lappen and Marion Burns.

SERVICES: Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak St., Hyde Park, Mass. The funeral is Saturday at 8 a.m. from the funeral home. The funeral Mass is Saturday at 9 a.m. in Most Precious Blood Church.

Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1029, Rochester, 03867-1029.
