Francis Szarek Obituary
Born in Manchester on Nov. 28, 1940, he was the son of John and Stella (Mijal) Szarek. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
He graduated from Manchester High School Central, Class of 1958.
Mr. Szarek was an iron worker with the Iron Workers Union Local 474 and Local 7. Afterward, he worked at Saint Gobain Performance Plastic until his retirement.
He was a longtime communicant of Saint Pius X Church.
Mr. Szarek enjoyed ice fishing, gardening and restoring automobiles. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He was fond of his dog, Darla.
Family members include his wife of 51 years, Patricia (Guare) Szarek of Manchester; his son, Jon F. Szarek and his companion, Susan Morash, of Boston; his daughter, Stacy C. Rocca and her husband, Keith, of Manchester; his sister, Dorothy L. Zyla and her husband, John T., of Goffstown; two nieces, Angela and Shannon; two nephews, Colin and Ryan; his brother-in law, Richard Guare and his wife, Megan.

services: A calling hour will be held Friday, June 7, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester.
A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Shirley Hill Cemetery, Goffstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, 545 State Route 101, Bedford 03110.

I had the honor of inspecting the Szarek home yesterday. The family has owned the home since 1965. I was very impressed by pride in ownership on display in the home. Furthermore, I was in awe of the notes that were written in the basement and garage detailing all the updates and repairs that were made to the home over the past 60 years. I felt compelled to write this to remember the Szarek's time in this home.

Good-bye old pal. It was a pleasure working with Bondo for 10 years at Chemfab/St Gobain. Enjoyed our time ice fishing. With you in heaven the place has to start running more efficiently. Keep looking down on us from the 'hole in the floor of heaven'.

Deepest sympathies on the loss of an old friend. I knew Frank very early in high school and he was a super friend and someone that you would have loved to have known for his very outgoing ways. He will be missed greatly and although it has been many years since I have seen or talked with Frank, it seems like it was just yesterday since we met for the last time.
