To one of our few fellow Ezekial Straw School (Chestnut St.) and Central High Alumni. Sir, you knew how to live. You even loved and gave the dogs many nice walks. My sincere condolences to your family, friends and loved ones. A beautiful memoir of a life well lived.

I'll always remember Gordon with great fondness. It was my father,Carl, that entered the shooting competition with Gordon, then 16 years old. Gordon had recently gotten his driver's license and hadn't really ventured out of the Manchester area. My father let Gordon drive to Camp Perry in Ohio (and back), which was like a trip around the world to Gordon at that time. Gordon proved to be an enthusiastic apprentice, developing his marksmanship abilities and huntsman knowledge. I recall the last time Gordon drove himself out to visit me in Henniker. He was about 92 years old and we did a tour of the old stomping grounds where he used to hunt with my father. Along our travels we encountered a doe and her fawn. The pair allowed us to drive slowly, following just behind them as they walked along the road. It was a moment that Gordon spoke of many times thereafter. Gordon was an amazing man and a good friend. I like to think of him now happily exploring the woods with my father and heading back to Camp Perry for some more shooting competitions. I'll miss you Gordon!

Joes determination and inner strength pops up as one of the first things I remember about him. Sometimes not always realistic in his expectations and wishes.... he survived to a point not many get to. Hope he can fly with the swallows in this next life.

Joe had such a great love for all wildlife.
In his younger day, many a blue bird family was fledged in a blue bird house that he put up...and not willing to let age stop that endeavor, he sought out the skills and generosity of Westmoreland's W.R.,for many more.
