NASHUA - John "Jay" Guarino, 52, died March 24, 2008 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center from complications due to recent multiple strokes. His devoted wife, Carol and brother-in-law, Richard Almeida were by his side.
He was born April 24, 1955 in Boston, Mass., the son of Carole Fulgham and the late John B. Guarino. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Guarino.
Jay went to public school in Billerica, Mass., and received a certificate from the Northeast School of Broadcasting in Boston.
He was a former radio personality and disc jockey known by different stage names including "Jay Carroll," "Jack Davis," and "Sean Adams." He worked for a number of New England radio stations including WOKQ in Portsmouth, WKBR in Manchester, WJYY in Concord, N.H. and WLLH in Lowell, Mass., where he met his wife Carol, a kindergarten teacher at Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH. Eventually he left radio to work for Anixter Brothers Inc. in Salem, N.H. where he was employed as a Senior LAN Administrator until the time of his death. Jay only missed one day a week of work for chemotherapy while battling lung cancer two years ago. He dealt head on with his cancer in a courageous and inquisitive manner. In fact, the day he was released from Massachusetts General Hospital following major lung surgery, he attended and completed a month-long course about lung cancer given at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
Jay loved to spend time with his wife, play guitar, read, work on cars, fish and spend time on his brother-in-law's boat in Beverly, Mass. He attended St. Kathryn Church in Hudson. He was known for his generosity and gave to numerous charities, especially those which helped children. Jay and his wife also frequently corresponded with six-year-old Johanna Barros of Ecuador, whom they have been sponsoring through the Christian Children's Fund for the past four years.
Jay was the love of his wife, Carol's, life.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carol of Nashua, Jay's brother-in-law and best buddy, Richard Almeida, his wife, Diane and their daughter April of Lowell, Mass., his mother-in-law and father-in-law Marie and Herman Almeida of Lowell, Mass., sister-in-law Linda Almeida of Lowell, Mass., sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy and Robert Baillergeon of Lowell, Mass., sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judith and David Ross of Lowell, Mass., a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Lee of Natalia, Texas, sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Brian Hulbert of Colorado Springs and a brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Sandy Guarino of Imperial Beach, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Just learned of Jay's "leaving". So shocked! I've been wondering for many months about Jay and Carol, their whereabouts, well-being, etc.. Just so sorry to know of his suffering and the Family's loss.
I worked with Jay at WDLW Radio in the eighties. He was an earnest, creative, witty, very likable guy. Sadly, the last place I saw Jay was at the wake of another radio peer, Mark Burns, December '92. I recall, clearly, Mark was very appreciative of Jay's talents, and so I believe Jay is in very good company today!
My thoughts and prayers are with Carol and the Family at this time, and will be ongoingly.
